i said i didn't know how far "far" really was in terms of halo-era travel. though something closer would be betelgeuse, which is in the orion contellation, only 310 light years and the size is roughly from the center of the sun stretching to the orbital route of venus.

In case you didn't know, Earth is in the Orion arm of the milky way galaxy. The Orion Nebula isn't that far away from earth.

i don't know if five hundred years would get us far enough to establish a base 1500 light years away. that's where orion is. but, i dunno. i don't know how far out the outer colonies really are. 8/10, not enough description. keep writing, this sounds good.
