Yup, it's a series. I'm writing the rest now. And Da Mann, you're right! My father is a Colonel (promotable) in the US Army. I made the dumbest mistake ever, but you're absolutely right. 18 is a corvette, or large patrol boat. A frigate would be MUCH larger. D'oh!
Jamirus, the reason I explain stuff is because I send my stories to people who don't play Halo. If you notice, I did the same thing for Marine Chronicles. Well, I'll give you all more.

And by the way, Honore is a real person. Major General Honore is the fmr commander of 2nd Infantry Division, my dad's unit!

Yeah, that was sooo cool. I just cracked up at the mention of the XBox in the camp on the swamp planet (do they play HALO? Or is it just that they're playing it all the time?), especially when Honore let loose with the marine quip from the game. I also enjoyed how you put them into our world with the mention of the old war movies and books from our days.
Questions:
Why so small for a UNSC frigate? Isn't 18 crew members about the size of a corvette class ship? Do you happen to know anybody in the U.S. Military? I've got several who are either in ROTC or enlisted. This story really reminded me of them.

Good job Gunny. I loved every part of it, although if you would take my advice, stop explaining basic Halo things like Ghosts. Oter than that, it was excellent, and I hope this is a series!

Very good story. I like the journal style of the story. You make it sound like he's doing an interview, ala "I, Robot."
