so he went hunting... big whoop. lots of soldiers in the wars of this past century have been hunters, including those in my family, and the only thing that improves is target practice and tracking. it doesn't teach you how to fight.

Well first of all, the black armored dudes from Halo 2 are Helljumpers, not regular Marines. The guys in my story are regular Marines...for now ;]
I'll explain how Tallent kills so well in a later chapter.

Yes, it was really good. In fact it is the best fan fiction story I've ever read. Unfortunately, I must agree with J-pr1m3. You killed so many of the upper-class covenant warriors without even breaking a sweat. like when you took out the battle rifle and blew half of the brutes away, i had trouble believing that. especially since if you shot a few the others would come charging and shooting at you and since you aren't master chief and you're only wearing marine armor (is it the halo marine armor or the halo 2 marine armor [the ones with the black armor and helmets as seen in the trailer]?). other than that it was a great story. i have one last question. how do you know what brutes fight like and how the battle rifle fires if halo 2 isn't out yet?
sniper is the only fan fiction i look forwards to reading, so keep up the GREAT WORK!

Just a couple of things: J-Pr1m3 he "kills well" because he did hunting with kellys father or something.
i do find the lack of emotion somewhat disturbing, like he's all hapy and stuff but other recruits are dying around him("some of the other recruits were dead and others severely wounded.") and he seems not to care?
and also it is rather unrealistic that he takes on 50 Brutes and they whupass. i mean really these are pretty powerful guys.
As elfster says it sounds like master chief on easy or normal.
a little more realism and this would be good.

I still give it an 8/10 or 9/10. Tallent kills like he's Master Cheif playing on easy or normal. Theres not enough of a struggle. And its throat, not throught. i usually dont correct people on spelling errors but you do that one often. Oh, and how did they all know to throw a grenade at the same time?
They seem pretty dumb-lucky, other than that, good.
And I know you're the one who likes a good fight scene, so im gonna give you a hint. Its better to have a longer fight scene with more struggle than go slaughtering everything

Well, I do agree, it is much better and you have certainly improved... It's gonna be nice to watch this series grow up! Hehe :) More descriptions! They're really getting there!
And maybe Tallent has a little secret or background info to how he kills so well...

it was a pretty good save from the last one and certainly better. Though you still manage to kill the upper-class covenant warriors with extreme ease, and that bothers me. 7.5/10.
