This one seemed rather lifeless--don't ask me why. It was good, though. Just one thing: if someone is talking, you're generally not suposed to use abbreviations. Thus, "Lt., we're about to land..." should be "Lieutenant, we're about to land...". 9.75/10.

He has a thing for accidentaly crashing dropships, even Covenant ones. Don't get him wrong! He's an excellent pilot! Really! =)

Yay! Good Comments! Thak you, PreacherCain & Hornet 34! =)
TEASER TRAILOR:
"Damn," Said Jake, as he looked at his broken dropship, "That's the second one this week! Good thing I got insurance."
...AND FOR PART 5 OR 6:
"Uh oh," Said Jake, as he got up in the cockpit of the Covenant U-Shaped Dropship, "Better get Mako."

Hilarious. I don't know if this was intended as a comedy, but it had me rolling on the floor. The dialogue was great, the characters distinctive, although not very military, and the jokes and one-liners made it hilarious. I feel sorry for Lt. Jake, he seems inches away from death at every chapters end.
(hornet34 walks away, laughing and saying to himself "that's not a frag grenade, that's my wife")

Calm yourself, H_K - I've been reading back to the beginning of the series! ;-)
I've been enjoying the story so far - although this is by far the best part, in my opinion. The variety of settings and characters (plus, Covenant resisitance? Intriguing - I look forward to seeing where that goes...) helps to keep the pace going, and avoids a major problem of game-based fanfic. Halo, although it's a great game with a good plot, is actually rather dull when you put it on paper - just look at "Halo: The Flood"; the author has to cut out whole swathes of combat to stop it getting heart-stoppingly boring! So the varied locations and different plot lines are a welcome change fomr the norm.
I also like the solider-speak - "does mouse shit roll?" and "en route to The Hell Out of Town" are two great, vivid militaristic phrases which go a long way to lending an air of authenticity... I like the Brit Marine, too - as a Londoner myself it's refreshing not to have to read every character with a Yank accent... ;-)
Looking forward to Part 4!
