Since we Covenant Grunts are the only ones who have the brain mentality to speak more than one language, this may be one of the only few report logs of the life of a Covenant soldier to ever reach the Human army and have them see the sensibilty of it and easily understand it without much trouble of translating since the devil human mind is so pathetic it takes so long to translate something. I am probably of the only Grunts to have survived so long in the ongoing war between the Covenant and the devil Humans. Even though I am one of the Covenant, both races have used and abused me and my fellow Grunts for the duration of this entire senseless war between the two. Maybe my story will allow both to see the mistakes they have made, and not just show how they could treat the Grunts better, but bring a peace between the to. * * *
When a Grunt is born, they are given a single period of five human moths to live with their biological mother before they are taken away by the Covenant and used almost as slaves and dogs to fight the humans. Females themselves are used as scientist and engineering as of their bodys are so delicate a single shot could decimate them. I speak of this with no disregard to the other sex of my race as I hold them in very high regard. Males are first put into the army after their short training as minors. If they grow stronger and follow orders well, and can keep from getting their miniscule blue heads from getting blown off their fragile shoulders, then they get promoted. The Grunts ranking system goes as follows: Grunt minor, Grunt Major, and then on to the Special Forces. The Special Forces was even a kind of honor even for the Grunts, becuase even some of the Elites were lower than you then. Plus you got a big cool gun. Everyone and everything likes havin a big cool gun. Most Grunts try to forget the five month period that they have with their biological mother. The happy memories are to painful for them to remember after all the struggle, strife, and turmoil they endure when they enter the Covenant Army. The stupid ones who can't even add two plus two don't have to worry about trying to remember them. Personally, without the memories of my mother and the times before I was forced to join the Covenant Army, I wouldn't have made it as long as I have. After all I've been through, I would have gone insane with the pain that was handed out to me. But the thought of the one family member I had kept me through it all. As old as I am now, I can't remember as many of the months as I would like to, or used to be able to. Now I can only remember my last month with my mother, but that's a memory that I will always have until I die, which could be a short time from now. A Grunt naturally ages five times faster than that of the devil Humans. We also can live three times longer if we didn't get blown up and abused so much by the Covenant and the Humans. But thanks to guns and grenades, our lifespan is a fraction of what it used to be. Sometimes not even that of a year. But of course, we were forced into this war, we didn't choose it. My first memory brings me to waking up in the small quarters of the housing complex that my mother and I had been assigned to live in by the Covenant. It being a dictatorship, we of course had no choice. Run, of course, by the elites. H're Slattrin. The ruler of the Covenant. For one thing, the Hunters were to bloodthirsty to get smart about anything, and as long as they were supplied with plenty to kill, they were happy. And the Grunts just weren't strong enough, even in numbers. So many of us were killed in battle, that there weren't just enough. So as usual, things were run by the Elite. My oldest memory brings me to waking up early on a bright morning, where I always awoke to the cheerful face of my mother. To anything besides a Grunt, it would have been like waking up in hell to see that looking at you, but to a young Grunt such as myself, it was a form of paradise, and I enjoyed it every morning. Every day I would go outside in the exercise yard and run and lift weights and tried to keep in shape. Even at my age I knew that you had to keep in shape and be fast if you wanted to survive in the army. Especially working for the Covenant bastards. After a day of exercise every day, I would go back to my qaurters for sleep, always dreading the day that I would be torn away from my mother, and then shoved into the army where the only final fatale option was death. All my days in my five month period that I can remember were basically the same. Except for the last day. And that day haunts me worse than any other day will on the battlefield amidst bodies and bodies of my fallen brothers and comrades. I had awoken to find my mother making the strange noises a Grunt does when they are "Weeping." To a normal devil Human or anything else they would probably be annoying, but to a fellow Grunt, they can be used for torture. Those sounds are the ones made when a Grunt is either dying, in great pain, or great sorrow. My mother was the last two that day. And what made it worse was that I knew what she was weeping about, but I could not show it. For I had so much fear inside of me, that my piss was running all over the floor when I heard the sounds of the engines of the three dropships when they landed. I let the sliding automatic door open and hurriedly ran into the hallway where I fell into a quick moving single file line of Grunts going to be recruited for the Covenant army. Every single one of us were dreading it, but we had a reason to. We were being forced into this war after being taken over by the Covenant ourselves. But we were met at the doors by four red elite gaurds with plasma rifle's holstered on a belt they wore loosely on their waits, which also held four plasma grenades. We quickly walked by, but none of us could escape the pushing and shoves they gave us out the door. Once we were all outside, the Elites gathered in front of us and told us, " You are privelaged to serve in the Covenant army. You will be taken to a Covenant Cruise ship called the Enforcer and Rebound. Once you get aboard, you will be then transferred back to another part of the galaxy to a world where your training period will begin. Then you will be assigned your duties, and better serve the Covenant. Long live H're Slattrin!" All the Grunts in the group surely despised the name, but made they're little happy noises so they wouldnt' get shot. All except one. The gaurds noticed this and looked at each other. In unison they whipped out their plasma rifle and incinerated the lowly Grunt on the spot. "Let this be a lesson to you. Obediance, is a virtue that all Grunts should have, lest you end up like your 'brother' here," and with that he smirked at us and they started herding us onto their dropships. After my group was loaded on, and the hatches were closes, I looked out through a gap between the hatches at my home. Then I noticed as the last elite dropped a plasma grenade on the remains of the Grunt they had killed, and he walked away as he was blown to smithereens, and loaded his ship. Away we all rose to unknown regions where our destiny, no matter how pitiful awaited us.
What will become of our Grunt hero? Will he make it to training? Tune in for the Chapter two of : Used, Abused, and Blown to smithereens!
