Usa shuddered as he walked off of his specially equipped Phantom onto the chilling human atmosphere. He gulped in some air and headed to the command post. What he found out there was not good. After his battle with the two Human Frigates. He had begun to ferry troops and artillery to the surface. But now the Mercy's Regret had descended into the sky and began spilling out it's contents onto the Planet. His soldiers had advanced into a major Human city, but were encountering heavy militia and Marine resistance. Knowing the odds of him winning the battle in city, very bad odds. He sent in two scarabs in to turn the tide in his favor. Content knowing that he had done all he could to help his troops he began typing up a report to send to the Hierarch's at the High Charity. When that was done, a Golden Elite entered his Tent. The Field Commander. Kuta 'Kanamee was tall, lean and muscular. His reputation was almost above Usa's own. One particular story stated that Kuta had stormed a human bunker infested with Humans with naught but a half charged plasma pistol, three grunts and a badly mangled jackal. Under his leadership they apparently eradicated the Humans.
"Ship Master", the Elite said bowing before Usa.
"What news do you bear, Commander?", asked Usa.
" Our forces have been pushed back, and the Scarabs destroyed, our losses total some two hundred and thirty dead", replied the Elite with a cluck of his mandibles.
"What could have inflicted this damage?", asked Usa questionably.
Spartan 087, named Kelly, dodged a blow from an Elite, sidestepped and hit the elite in the back, breaking it's spinal cord, killing it instantly. Then grabbed its plasma rifle and sprayed a group of barking Grunts, killing them instantly.
"Good work Kelly", exclaimed Dr. Halsey
"Clear", yelled a marine and horde of Marines rushed forward.
"Where to next Kelly?" asked Dr. Halsey.
"I think you should find a safe bunker, and let me go on alone, Ma'm", replied the Spartan.
"I don't want to", replied Halsey stubbornly.
At that moment three warthogs pulled up, blocked by a door, the drivers and passengers of the two of the three warthogs, spilled out and ran towards the door, yelling bets about who could kill the most. In the other warthog and large officer jumped out and approached Halsey.
'You are Dr. Halsey of Reach, are you not?", asked the officer.
"Yes", replied Halsey
"And this is Spartan 087?", asked the Officer, looking rather small under the Spartans gaze.
" Yes", said Halsey.
" Then you are requested at the command center", said the Officer
"And you are ordered to proceed on foot and clear out any Covenant resistance from the city", said the Officer to Kelly.
Kelly saluted and tore off into the door and beyond. What could be happening now, thought Halsey. As she got into the side seat of the Warthog. Kelly's mind went into high gear mode, she she huffed down the street, she thought over how she got here. She knew that Dr. Halsey had taken her of the rebel base and into a small shuttle, and she knew the shuttle had had engine problems, but she knew nothing else. Kelly turned the corner to find herself confronted by four jackals, forming a shield wall, and five grunts behind it with plasma pistols. Kelly dived out of the way behind the dumpster, and heard it groan as plasma slagged it. Kelly jumped up, threw a grenade behind the shield wall, and dived down again, plasma shooting over her head. There was a loud thump, and screams of pain from the Grunts and all was silent. Kelly dared not move, there still may be more Covenant playing dead, waiting, biding there time, until she was vulnerable. Then she heard human voices coming down the alley.
'Woah, it's like a Spartan's been here , man", said a highly toned Mexican voice.
"Yeah, right, there aren't no Spartans here.
Kelly straightened up, the Marines stood there looking shocked.
"N..n..o Spartan's eh Rodriguez?", said a British voice.
"Shut up", said Rodriguez defensively.
"We need to move Marines", said Kelly, breaking up the argument.
"Yes, Ma'm", said the British man.
Kelly started moving down the street with the Marines, clearing houses and shops. Until they came to a Bank Front, on the inside she could see Elite and Grunts and Jackals. She also spotted two big, shadowy, bulky figures in the back. Hunters most likely, Kelly sighed. Then priming a plasma grenade threw it into a window, the window exploded taking some Grunts with it. Kelly sighed again, it was going to be a busy afternoon.
