I felt a fuel rod bolt scrape the side of my helmet and my communicator screeched with a high-pitched noise. My feet touched the hard ground and I snapped off my parachute. M6D in hand I ran behind a rock. I felt the boulder rumble from a shot by the incoming wall formation of the Hunters. I aimed at the heads of a group of Black Op. Grunts firing with fuel rod Cannons at marines flinching from the mighty force of the onslaught.
*Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick* *Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Thwick**Click**Click*
I let out the empty magazine and pulled a new one out of my pocket. *Bash* An Elite had ran around and hit my helmet but luckily my shield took the full force. I finished putting the magazine in and stuck the front of my pistol into his mouth. *Thwick* I turned around from the dead Elite and started firing upon the Hunters. I stopped after five shots because I noticed it wasn't doing anything with the Syphil. I pocketed my M6D and grabbed my MA7B-P. I aimed and blasted two PX rounds into four Grunts closely togethor doing a back to back thing. Weird though since they never used battle tactics. Two marines landed next to me and unclipped thier parachutes. Another had fallen in a lone tree that had survived the nuke somehow. I pulled him down and called the three marines into a huddle. "Look i'm gonna hit the head of the middle hunter and move along to the left." the three looked confused cause they didn't know what I was talking about. I started explaining the part for them to do. "One of you will shoot the neck and the another will shoot the stomach while me and the other guy shoot the heads of the Hunters." Ooooooooh was the answer from the three.
The spanish looking guy started going to the right with his M6D. I did the same but to the left and as I predicted the hunters started staggering from the explosive rounds and were killed by the AR fire from the other two marines. The other marines scattered around got new confidence with this tumbling wall of the Hunters. We finished them off after two used clips each pistol. I told the marines to run to the other small groups in need of help. Jackals and Grunts fell dramatically at that time when they had lost confidence because off no higher ranks. sNot many were left when at least a hundred little things started coming out of the entrance of the base. I noticed it was the flood so I grabbed a Frag. grenade and tossed it at them. I had been told about these little things that eat you up from a video taken by a marine. Many others did the same and the number lessened. But the leftover ten got into Elites even though I didn't see the tenth I knew it was there because I had counted them right after the explosions. The now infested carcasses mutated into Flood Warriors and four marines were hit down quickly but a few others took them down. I counted the flood warriors on the floor and came up with nine. I looked around for the tenth. An overcharged plasma bolt hit my back at point blank. My armor was smoking and my back felt like it was on fire. I turned around and saw something wierd.
A Spartan stood in front of me with dents and cuts along his body and he was small. He spoke in a deep voice,"Sam, *deep breath**deep breath*, I am your father." "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" *record scratches* "Wait.......no your not." "*normal voice* Okay, but I wanted to say that and why don't you recognize me?" It answered. "How would I know you if I don't even know who you are." was my answer. "I am your old friend, remember, Jake." He told me. Then it struck me. "Oh yeah, I remember from the Spartan II project. They said you died on Reach." "They think I'm dead but I got on an abandoned dropship before the planet exploded. And sorry about the plasma bolt in the back, I thought you were an Elite." He answered quickly. Jake had grown and had been in Space and colonies where he found food and water to survive. I grabbed his hand and he helped me get up. We came out from behind the rock and everyone cheered. AR fire burst into the sky and we had a celebration with fireworks (hint hint). Needlers, grenades and plasma bolts filled the dark sky that night at the base and we all had a feast of Grunt meat which most marines didn't want to eat but were asking for more after tasting it.
