This poem was written by a unknown ODST trooper during the siege of Voi
the night is dark all is quiet the men lay low and hidden
then men are waiting for the signal no one moves no talks no one hardly breathes
i look down the scope of my rifle ready to fire at any sign of movement
my body is cold and hungry but the fear and adrenaline keeps me awake
at the slightest sound my body jumps bracing for the searing burn from a plasma round
to my right lays my sergent cool and calm unflinching
he turns to me and cracks a smile don't be scared son it dosn't matter if you die death is only the beginning
i turn away not wanting for him to see my fear and look down my sights again
suddenly slowly i see a foot step from behind the rubble of a building then another and a brute steps out clad in black
hold your fire breathes the sergent to the men there are more wait for them to come around the corner
1 then 3 then when the last one is seen there are 25 the stench of dried blood and smoke on there fur there red eyes shinning in the light
my finger is on the trigger ready to take the first ones life
wait for me to take the first shot he breathes out and pulls the trigger the shot rings out and the brute falls
i line up the beasts head in my sights and with a jerk and a bang the head disappears and the battle has begun
