Chapter 1
I felt dizzy. What had woken me up? I then found the answer as I noticed a bright light.
"Sorry for interrupting your dreams, sir." a voice stated. The cryotube suddenly opened and a crewman's face was shown in the dim light.
"Err, we have a slight problem, sir." explained the short blonde crewman as I stepped out. "The Pillar of Autumn is under attack, sir."
"I need to meet with the captain." I demanded.
"What about your shield and weapons?" asked the crewman.
"Oh, yes. I forgot." My blue armor gleamed in the brgiht light.
"Follow me," the crewman commanded.
We arrived at a yellow box. "Please step on the box, sir." I obeyed and stepped in.
"We need to know if your targeting sensors are still working alright," he explained. "Please look at each of the glowing yellow dots."
I shrugged and stared at the dots. They were square and yellow. They looked kind of odd.
After I had looked at each of them, the crewman told me to follow him again.
We approached a red box. "Am I going to have to step on the box again?" I questioned.
He nodded. I stepped in. Then I closed my eyes. I could feel my energy flowing inside me. I felt more energized.
"Alright I've got your shields going. Now for another test." I identified the crewman's voice. Then surprisingly, there was a shock that weakened me.My whole body burned like hell.
"Ahh, what the hell are you doing crewman?" Luckily, my armor recharged a few seconds after.
"Just checking, sir." he replied as I stepped out of the red box.
"Now just get this." He handed me an assault rifle and a pistol. I tucked in the pistol and hanged the assault rifle at my back. It felt kind of heavy.
"We need to go." The crewman sounded worried.
Then, a wall exploded and a funny looking dwarf stepped in with a tall monster.
I analyzed them. Enemy: Grunt and Elite.
"Shoot them god damn it!" the crewman yelled and shot the aliens with a pistol.
I got my assault rifle and sprayed bullets at them. Both aliens were dead in 2 seconds.
"Whew, close shot. Thanks. Let's go before more covenant come in." he grabbed my arm and ran.
I had no choice but to follow him. Then we approached a narrow passage. I looked at my left.
Huh? I thought. I thought I saw a Spartan running, too. He had green armor. Unfortunately, the crewman dragged me.
"Hey, is there any Spartans here left?" I asked the short guy.
"Yes, sir. The only one I know of is the Master Chief. Don't know about anyone else."
Then we approached to where Captain Keyes was standing.
"What's going on, Keyes?" I asked the captain.
"Bad news, Nighthunder. We're getting beat by those god damn Covenant." Keyes and I shook hands.
Then, there was a big explosion. A funny looking A.I. emerged. It seemed familiar. Just then, I hit me. It was Cortona!
"Nighthunder, is that you?" asked the A.I.
"Who do you think it is?" I replied back.
She smiled and disappeared. "Well, what should I do captain?" I asked.
"I need you to get out of this ship as fast as possible." came the answer.
"Yes, sir. Good luck." I saluted him and ran.
I took a left turn and found an elite lying on the floor. It seemed wounded. It grumbled something. It was defenseless since it had no weapon.
I sighed and just walked past the wounded elite. Let someone else take care of him, I told myself.
After a few minutes, I approached an escape pod. It had only three passengers in it. Oh well, I thought and stepped in.
"Hello, Spartan number 14." The pilot said.
"I rather be called Nighthunder." I snapped.
"Where are going?" asked a frightened marine. His face was as white as milk.
"Anywhere we can go marine," answered the pilot.
"Alright, we'll be taking off in 10 seconds. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" the pilot shouted and I closed my eyes.
The door closed and the pod blasted off.
Since my legs felt tired, I decided to sit down.
"Hey what's that?" asked one marine. He pointed at a humongous ring that rotated.
"I sure don't know but we're landing on it!" the pilot yelled.
