Okay please tell me that you missed me or at least knew I was gone... please?-me
Plasma lit the room as what seemed like hundreds of bolts flew through the air. Greg jumped into the safety of one of the intact cells in the crowded room. "We have incoming uglies!" yelled David.
The unending tide of grunts and elites stormed into the room firing until their weapons overheated. The bolts never found their mark however as the humans were twisting their bodies to avoid the wall headed at them. Eventually they would die, but they were determined to take as many aliens as they could with them.
A large group of men stood before their commander as he paced before his men. "The higher ups have given us a mission, and that mission is to only to kill as many of those bastards as we can!" The officer paused to let the words sink in then continued "Along the way some of our fellow special operations soldiers got their ticket home in a body bag. We have never allowed this to bring us down, but only to fuel our fight against them. We have an opportunity to make sure that some of them won't make it back either. There is a ship hovering over our beloved hellhole and we are going to make sure that it doesn't leave."
The soldiers cheered as the officer paused, then continued with his orders "I want Alpha, Beta and, Delta platoons on this mission. Each firing team will carry at least one bomb." The officer let the applause die down then yelled "Let's kick some ass!"
After the officer had finished a leader in alpha yelled "What about POW's sir,"
The officer stared at the suddenly silent crowd "Command says that saving their lives will be a waste of life and manpower. I wish they would remember their duty to those they lead; they wouldn't budge when I requested them to let us save them. I say if you can take the chance and now is not the time for us to betray our fellow soldiers."
The fierce battle raged on inside the crowded cell block as the covenant forces advanced on the POW's. There was only one casualty on the humans' side yet the covenant were losing forces at an alarming rate. Eventually they would all be lost through the shear numbers the covenant could bring to the engagement. I'm not gonna let those aliens take me without a fight he thought millions of thoughts flew through his mind. Finally a burst of plasma hit the wall opposite him and the haze fell away as he ripped out one of the plates on his leg next covenant around this corner is taking an old fashion beat down.
One Sean led his firing team through the urban environment following a trail of bullet shells and dead covenant. Many of the soldiers on the team would rebel if he tried to lead them on another route because even though hundreds of covenant lay dead there wasn't a single human casualty found.
"Sir I've been examining the trail left by whoever did this and…" began the point man.
"Wait don't you mean the team that did this" Sean said before he could finish.
"That's what I mean sir this was all done by one man, and judging by this next room this is where his trail will end. I don't mean he's dead but his guns there and still has some ammo in it, plus the fact that judging from the patterns of broken objects and dust he struggled but was carried off..."
"He will be on that ship as a P.O.W." Sean finished then fell silent. His team shifted and looked at him nervously and though they didn't want to say it they all felt that orders be damned they would save that man. "Okay saddle up we are going to save this marine Austin grab his rifle it's customized and I'm sure he really wants it back," Sean yelled to his team. Many of them tried their best to hide smiles that were slowly creeping onto their faces; they could always count on him to make the right choice.
The fight wasn't going so well they were almost out and besides for Spencer and Daniel all the crew from the crashed Longsword were dead. Finally as he was retreating to a better firing spot David was hit in the back by a carbine and fell to the deck and lay there dead. This place is hell, hell is a place of pain suffering and death. Time to share these with those that cause it. At that moment an Elite which had been hugging the wall came round the corner of his cell. With lightning fast speed Greg immediately lashed out with the armor plate in his hand and swept the feet out from under the Elite and crashed it into its head till it was no longer recognizable as anything. Finally he stood with the Elite's plasma rifle and grenades in hand and leapt out into the open firing at the enemies filling the entrance to the cell block.
