The Covenant Holy City,Ninth Age of Reclamation, Nine-Hundred Units, Elite's Quaters.
Fassu Nallamee' sat in the chair, holding an Energy Sword. The Parasite had taken control of the City. As a Field Master, he failed. As an outcast, nothing mattered. The Brutes would walk with the Prophets to the Beyond while he was banished to hell. He wasn't wearing armor. He hoped that the Parasite would take him already, he didn't want to live. The betrayal had broken him. He stared at the door from the table at which he sat. It moved slightly, as it hovered, blue lights emenating from the middle area of the table. Blue light that made him even more menacing. But yet he stared. He failed. His brothers were dead. What did he have left?He failed. His age was catching up to him. If the Parasite got him, then all they would have was another rickety old warrior. Fassu saw the door flash, something was coming. He gripped his energy sword, his eyes sharpened and his heart skipped a beat.
Nessu Nallamee' watched the door slide open. He had to go back. He was part of the Sangheili youth. Even at a mere 16 human years, he was a shining student. His pride was never challenged, he would never have the honor of truly being an Elite warrior, like his father. He would never recieve his right to passage, like his father. He was little more than an Unngoy. The door jammed,
"Damn!" Nessu exclaimed. He shot the at the door with his plasma Rifle. Then he started to bash at it once his weapon was near dry.
"Open...up!" At the other side, Nessu could hear rustling.
"Father?"
Fassu heard the door slide open, and then the jammer activated. Fassu put in it. It gave him time enough to cover. Even though he very much wanted to die, his warrior's instinct told him to keep going.
"Father?" Fassu heard the voice, and he nearly came to tears. His son was alive! He scrambled towards the door, having not eaten in days. He pulled out the jam, which resembled a glowing lock-pick. Many of the higher ranking Covenant had these. Kig-yar were also allowed to utilize these tools on stealth missions with the dark spec-ops.
"Nessu, my Son!" Fassu embraced his son in the 'Warrior's love'. This was, a hug where an Elie would grasp his brother, son or spouse, in peace. An Elite would shift his legs back, open his mandibles and arms, and hopefully the other would respond. Fassu, whom was young let his emotions overcome him. He embraced his embattled father, as strong as he could.
"Father your alive! I can't believe I found you!" Fassu was shaking. Shaking in fear, in hunger, in shock and in happiness. His son rescued him. That would have earned him honor throughout every rank, since father-son relations were regarded as sacred in the Covenant.
"You've done well to make me proud Nessu." Fassu fell over and laned at the base of the table. He was growing weak.
"You look like you're famished, Father. Have some water." Fassu grasped for the water tube. He slid the tube down his throat and drank. After done drinking, he tried to speak.
"Food..."
Nessu's eyes sharpened. He reached into his equipment and pulled out some Narmi squid. He presented it to his Father, Fassu accepted it humbly.
"Thank you...Nessu." Fassu scarfed down the squid quickly, but it filled him up too. Narmi Squid secrete a a mixture of ink and a chemical. It makes predators fill up more easily. Narmi Squid regrow limbs, parts of brains, everything. It's extemeley hard to ingest a whole Narmi Squid due to the Narmi Juice, which is a popular Covenant alcohol.
"Father, are you okay?" Nessu asked.
"No. The Brutes and the Parasite overwhelmed us."
"Yes, but didn't you hold them off?"
"No. I failed. I ran. I told you to run. But I hid too. You came back. You've done better than I have. I've dreamed of the day I'd see you earn you right to passage..."
"Father, can you walk?"
"Yes. Let's head to the docks. The Ark launched and the City is without power. My assumtion is that Flood is holding this place aloft. Dock Master Tundred 'Callahan should be alive. I just sent a com out not two Units ago."
"Alright Father." Nessu held out his hand to assist his Father.
"No. I must do some things on my own." Injuries from past battles had led to many repairs. The repairs had fallen apart days ago. He remembered the Human that did it to him. A dark skinned one, at the bombing of Paris IV. He had been strong enough to get a full crate of Plasma grenades and detonate them in front of everyone at that station. Fassu had Boren's Syndrome, and he didn't know it. He turned over and jumped a little to get up.
"Let's go, Nessu."
Barter's Call, 2300 hours, Brig.
Korma, Frederick. ODST. Tougher as shit. But how the hell did he wind up his own ships's brig? Even worse, it was a Grunt who caught him. The rust on the brown walls and grey bars were high-lighted with a smell and sharp, flourescent lights. An Elite in stealth mode snuck up to a Brute. The Brute spoke.
"Human, you smell familar...Where is that coming from?" The Elite activated its Energy Sword and slit the Brute's throat.
"Human," The Elite said," Get out of there." What the Hell? What if he's lying? He saw the others get out, and a pile of dead Drones, Jackals, and Brutes. I think I can trust him.
