Chapter One: First Resolve

June 8, 2148 1725 military standard
Ulmaryon, Tresgas System Small town of Yechenze

By this time the Human expansion into space was at full throttle. The thirst for new planets was going on unfulfilled. But on those planets that were colonized, rebels were being born.
On the outer fringes of colonized space, a place of great hardship and lawlessness, rebel factions are vying for control of a planet. Constant warfare among many outer rim worlds were leading many citizens to arm themselves. Others were calling in the UNSC to relieve there planets from rebel control. Not all planets, though were as forthcoming about asking for help as they were looking for a way to gain power. It is a place like the Old West, when Billy the Kid roamed the area.
At this time most planets on the fringes were either under UNSC martial law or Rebel control. Only few planets have stood up to the might of the UNSC. Fewer still have maintained there "Independence." But, their power wains as superior UNSC forces conquer their planets one-by-one. Where one faction falls several more rise to take its place. In a never ending struggle to survive, only the brave and only the strong survive the wars and revolts that take place.
The planet Ulmaryon, a similar planet to earth. This planet is under UNSC martial law and its harsh penalties for "crimes against the state." It has been oppressed for many years, and so often when the steam builds up it explodes.
In the small town of Yechenze, few would realize the mistake that night would leave on the history of the world. Few would think that one man could inspire such faith and loyalty, that no matter the odds, they would always prevail. It was a cool, windless evening with a small breeze blowing through the trees. The moonlight glowed a silver glow, the roads were silver ribbons in the vast see of green. The small towns were like beacons of light in a dark dreary place. It was a calm and peaceful. Few made noises in this quiet town on the edge of the forest. Fewer still dared to disrupt the serenity of the place. A few clad in armor, though, set off this peaceful mood with their, thump-thump-thump from there boots.

"And once again more people in the capital have been arrested for protesting against the state, and other 'crimes against the state.' In other news Vassli Zerakli was again interrogated for his help in the weapons storage crime. Vassli says that he is innocent and that this is more injustices against his people. This avid spokesman for the Equal Rights for Ulmaryon movement is one of the mo-" the announcer's voice stopped short, as he was cut off, his neutral expression still fading from the plasma screen.
Sitting in a chair near the TV was a medium built man, roughly five-feet-six-inches with brown hair and hazel eyes. He had an elongated nose and an almost flat face. Along with his hard faced expression and unwavering eyes he gave off a slightly contemptible demeanor.
"Why did you turn the TV off Ryvean?" said someone else present, with a softer expression, not holding any hostile feelings.
"No reason," he replied in a deep and firm voice. Turning around he happened to see his wife standing there in the doorway. She was a young woman, standing two inches shorter than her husband. With blonde-streaked brown hair pulled up in a ponytail, that still hung to below her shoulders, and a sharp, cute face, she was hardly one who would stand out as an intimidating individual; but her face displayed otherwise.
"So you just thought you could turn it off, did you?" his wife said in slight frustration. "You ought not take hold of that controller if you don't let me watch the news."
      "But, but-"
"I won't take it from you, now turn it back on or no diner for you."
"Fine." he said, angrily. As he turned the plasma screen on, heard the doorbell ring. I wonder who that could be. he thought. No one should be coming by at this time.
Ryvean sighed and started to rise, pushing himself up with his arms, firmly planted on the over-stuffed black leather recliner. As he walked across the blue-tinted green plush Turf Carpet he still wondered why someone was coming here. I hope its not those rebels again. I told them I don't want any part of this problem.
As he opened the door, what he saw in front of him, outside his own house, surprised even him. He was astounded by the images that registered through his retinas, yet a sense of fear quickly gripped him, causing a rock to form in his stomach. As he pulled the door open fully. Something told him this was not a good situation, but like all who follow the law he opened the door. His heart was beating, his breath had slowed. Time itself seemed to curse his choice for opening the door.
Time the one thing that will get us all; the one thing that we all dread. The tick-tick of the clock. The dum-dum-dum of the hourly chimes. Something that puts us all to work on and something that makes us all fear. Time is unkind to most, but to poor Ryvean time would be his blessing. For time is no one but the desperate's friend.

(Author's Note: This is my first story and I hope that everything is good. Please comment to me on mistakes and otherwise. Special thanks to MCC for the help he has given me in just the first chapter.)
