Big Green, Little Green [A Poem]

Yoda had his lightsaber, that day,
when he clove that sorry green man in twain.
He was a murderer, a killer,
a homicidal lunatic from five hundred thousand years before
yet the little green being could not help but
feel bad for him.
Frozen for five thousand decades!
--no wonder he was so insane--
And his killing of Dryk and Vrun
may even be excused as self-defense, very sane.
And with his thoughts all in regret
did the little green thing walk away.

And behind him was left
the man in green's corpse
his armor useless against the swing
of that glowing blade, the saber.

What lore was lost with him?
The sorry green man from years before
who'd fought against the 'Covenant'--
      --whatever the hell that is--
who'd have certainly known
of things only lost and forgotten,
the history of man's beginnings,
of that elusive planet of birth, Earth?

Alas, he lies dead.

This baby is a poem for my Star Wars-Halo crossover. Be afraid... very afraid.
