I walk amongst my men,
tired and weary we all are,
Marooned on this Godforsaken ring,
we find no respite
Powerful is the enemy, numerous,
We have fought him with courage,
With every battle we grow weaker,
with every victory we get stronger,
Battlegrounds turn into boneyards,
Lessons for generations to come,
Memories fuel our spirit,
and carry our broken bodies,
The enemy can break our bodies,
But the light of hope he cannot extinguish,
The men watch the sun peer over the horizon,
and start humming a song, visions of courage and hope,
I walk amongst my men,
determined and ready we all are
