Carol Smith opened one eye. She instantly laid still. Something was standing over her and she had a pretty good idea what it was. It was drenched by the water of the sea, drops falling off of his armour and his body flickering all over in a kind of bronze-gold colour. Carol saw the shins of two long and slender legs with hooves instead of feet. They were almost covered in shining red armour. The reflection from the midday sun made them shimmer with beauty. However she knew this was no creature to be dazzled by. It would kill her instantly if he knew she was still alive.
She played dead for ages; but the Elite did not move. He stood there, as if he was waiting for something. She caught glances of his head. Pointed, from the very top to the mandibles and swivelling on a long neck. She could almost see the back of his mouth because he was so hideous. Then the alien's head turned, it sensed something. She saw his legs moving away from her. When he had his back turned she rolled over and looked in the same direction as him.
Horror met her eyes. Michael was trying to get to his feet, stumbling. The alien started to move towards him. It had no weapons now, so it most certainly wanted to beat him to death; which would be very easy. Carol could not help letting out a gasp of fear. The Elite's head turned again, eying the two humans. They were both alive no doubt. Michael finally saw the danger slumped down again, pretending to die. But the Elite was no idiot. He ran at him. Michael could only wait in fear.
He couldn't run away; the bank was behind him and the Elite would catch up anyway. He only had one idea. The Covenant troop pulled his arm back up high, ready to kill the child in one vicious blow. Michael rolled and then dodged the best he could, but the Elite reacted immediately. His hooves slid across the ground about five centimetres knocking small stones into the water. He was toppling on the edge. But he went nowhere. Instead he turned and charged again.
Michael now had no other choice. So he ran. Faster than he ever had before. He felt like he was being lifted of the ground. The Elite was far too fast however, he caught in seconds; then grabbed the child and swung him round, holding him by the neck. The Elite spoke. "You, just like the rest of your pathetic race are incompetent." Michael didn't understand a word he said. "By the will of the gods, we shall destroy this city, and this planet, it is the way things must go. Your fate is already sealed." His voice trailed away as he tightened his grip. Michael could f eel the Elite's fingers closing in and his spine clicking. This must be it. Any more and the colossal creature would snap the poor boy's spine.
Everything happened at once, a burst of rifle-fire hit the alien's shields. Blue marks appeared all over his body as they reacted. He dropped the half-dead boy in surprise, but on purpose. He turned to the source where four marines in camouflage green stood, weapons at the ready. "Die, Bitch." One said, not letting the covenant troop hear. It charged, they fired. All of the bullets reflected away on the shields, causing him no harm, but soon his defences dropped. He was very angry now.
Carol ran over to find her other son lying strewn across the floor, eyes closed. She feared the worst. "Oh, Ja"- she stopped as he wearily opened his eyes. "Jack!" she cried with relief. He got up slowly, limping. Carol turned round, her face filled with happiness now, until she saw what lay before here. Natalie. Dead. Lying flat on her face. She had been the closest to the window when the ships collided and probably died because of the flames. Carol dropped to her knees, and sulked.
Quen 'Elkofee ran at the four humans, his shields were now down so he was doubling the pace. The beeping sound got louder he ignored it. He was close enough. He grabbed one human, broke his neck, and threw him into two more. The weight forced them both down so he turned to the last one. It dodged as he attacked and his hand went flying into the building behind. His fist throbbing. He turned to only meet another round to the chest. He bent over. Angry at the fact the human was winning, he decided to run behind a building for his shields to recharge.
Once there he found the dead corpse of a Minor. Staring with blank eyes up to the sky. 'Elkofee took his needler. He then peered round the right and fired purple crystals of hell on the humans. The unsespected killed two. The third was gunned down by an Unggoy on a roof which 'Elkofee had not noticed yet. The menacing turret forced the last one (the one that 'Elkofee had had trouble earlier) to run around the corner and narrowly escape. "Is me saving your ass, eh?" The cocky thing remarked, "Not every day me gets to do it for Sangheili."
"Quiet you fool!" 'Elkofee replied back. He checked but his communications were down. "Now what?"
