Its Quiet...
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Lieutenant, can you here me?" said a tired voice over the radio.
"Yes sir, I hear you loud and clear."
"What do you see on Richard's sensors?"
The Lieutenant replied-"Minor heat spikes, possibly a vent or a leaking pipe. Other than that, the outpost is running cold, no Human lifesigns just as Keyes said."
"Damn. Inform FLEETCOMM of the situation." "Aye Sir."
"Quarters? Quarters? Do you strike? asked a voice in his dream. "I may sink, but Im damned if I'll strike!" said a man in a sharp Naval uniform.
The dream had become a nightmare. Getting a full nights sleep seemed like a distant memory. He was so tired, that he fell asleep in the Pelican's personnel bay en-route to the outpost. Only a familiar voice over the radio woke him-"Mike? Mike. Can you hear me?"
"I hear you. What is it?"
"I have a bad feeling about this. Just take care of yourself down there. Watch your corners, keep your eyes down range, and bring your men back alive."
"Are you worried about me Miranda?" said Mike with a smile on his face.
"You never know. Keyes out."
He looked at the small fire-team that was going to accompany him. He had served with each of the Leather-Necks prior to this mission. He trusted them with his life, and he knew that they trusted him with theirs. His close friend, Lieutenant Williams, was the only exception. Williams was transferred to his command following the first battle of Earth, and has served with honor and distinction. His quick reflexes and loyalty to duty made him an ideal Pilot for the Richard
"Mikey, you holdin up ok?" asked Williams.
"I've had better days...How about you?"
"I'm good. Sir, permission to speak freely."
"Go ahead."
"Why have you not asked out that one chick?"
"Which one?"
"The one you are always talking about. Something with an M..."
"Miranda?"
"Thats her. So about my question?"
"It would never work out."
"How would it not work out?"
"Dont get me wrong, she is FINE and all but..."
"But what?"
"I would never be able to see her. We are Naval Officers after all..."
"True Dat. Go Navy."
The Marines sitting next to them rolled their eyes.
"Sirs, sorry to interupt, but we're closing in on the LZ. Keyes' bird has already touched down."
Showtime. He thought to himself, picking up a Battle-Rifle. "Ten-seconds till touch down." He then began to inspect his rifle, loaded a clip into it, and flipped the safety switch. It was then he remembered something. He recalled an old friend that had given him something "in case of emergencies." In his hand lay a bright silver object that reflected the light shining around him.
With the push of a button, a bright blue blade emerged from the silver object, and with another push, it dissapeared. "Go!Go!Go!" shouted our pilot. One by one
the couragous Marines stepped out of the Pelican, then ran towards the main entry-way into the outpost.
"Daniels, get the door open." ordered Keyes.
"Aye Ma'am." The Marine then pulled a stranged box from his pack, placed it on the door, and began pushing buttons. With a "whoosh," the door cracked enough to let us in one by one.
It was at this point were Williams said in an annoying tone-"So, Mike. It must feel nice, you know, fighting along side Miranda. You two look nice together." and Mike replied-"Williams. It would be a shame if you were hit by friendly fire, you know." Miranda then joined in with-"Oh, Im sorry Williams. Didnt see you there. What a shame..."
Williams then noticed that Miranda and Mike were looking at each other, smiling. "Ahem...Commanders, dont we have something to do?" The two of them broke eye contact, and focused on the task at hand.
"Commander!" shouted a voice over the radio from the Richard."Sir! Is that you down there?"
"Well, Im mean we've been here for a while."
"Sir, what I mean is you've got a massive heat signature approaching from the northern corridor. Is that you?"
"We're in that corridor..." said Miranda waving her rifle around. "Look sharp Marines!!!" shouted Michael with all the air in his lungs.
End of Part 2
"YEAH!" says Johnson in his best Lil'John Voice.
