I hope everyone likes my story because it is my first time submitting to fan fiction so enjoy!
JUPITER PROBE STATION LUNA SYSTEM SLIPSPACE PROBING (LSSP) MODLE 155 VI 0900 SEPTEMBER 12 2252
Ensign Marvo had just finished repairs on probe 127 after a close encounter with a stray comet that had managed to find itself in the odd dimension of slip space. Even the spooks at ONI hadn't been able to figure out how they managed to get themselves into the alternate dimension of space. Quick dismissing theory after theory that any respectable scientist had and claimed it was just a mathematical equation that could wait for a more peaceful time to investigate. "Ha"! Marvo would exclaim. "They expect me to spend all of my time that isn't spent sleeping to watch for possible covie ships that only have 1 in 100 chance of being detected, but then rave when one of the PRESIOUS probes plays patty cake with a mile round piece of ice"! He left the repair hanger with out noticing the plasma scaring of a weapon on the under side of the probe and made his way back to his cramped quarters to have a shower and get some un-oil-stained garments on his stiff wiry frame. Then wandered back to his equally cramped workspace in front of a 4ft wide, 6ft high piece of projector glass, surrounded by half empty plastic cups of coffee. He stooped over and spook into the speaker in a half caring tone, "honey I'm home" Lights came on, computers booted up and a sweet female voice came from the loudspeaker, "voice verified, welcome Ensign Marvo, I trust you have the probe in working order?" "Sure" was his lying remark to the AI. "Neon please release probes 112 through 120 I want to see if we can increase my paper work a little," he said sarcastically. "A moment please...done probes 112 through 120 launched and entering slip space in 12.34 seconds" The Ensign put one foot up on the desk and glanced over the new paper work that littered the floor that fell from his fax machine. He then sat up abruptly and said "also please have the retrieval drones on standby in case we have another incident like last time." The AI complied. Suddenly a warning flashed up on the glass in front of the ensign just as his eyes were closing. Caught off guard he sat up quickly and went over the data streaming from the out born probes. Odd, smoothed figured silhouettes came over the display in front of him. They looked oddly familiar yet he couldn't figure where in his mind he placed them. Suddenly the screen went blank and a projection of neon flashed up on the display. "Warning!" I have detected multiple covenant signatures on the stations probe relay radar. 45...89.308 ships have been detected on an earth bound trajectory. Sending distress signal now... sending all available data to nearest Mars station for relay to Earth. Breaking clamps to Jupiter orbital ring now" The station shuddered violently throwing Marvo to the floor. The AI began again, "setting outbound probes in hanger now and plotting nearest trajectory to earth. Firing main station thrusters...now."
Again the ensign was thrown to the floor, this time he decided to make no effort to get up. The AI continued as if nothing had happened, "entering slip space now... ETA to Earth 67 minutes." Cole protocol didn't imply anymore since the covenant now knew where earth was, the only thing that mattered now was warning Earth of the current threat towards Humanity. MARS EXCAVATING RING IN CURRENT ORBIT FULLYAUTOMATED MARS 12 SPACE REFINERI 0912 SEPTEMBER 12 2552 The CPU of substation 12 booted up upon request of relay messaging order of AI 196 codenamed "NEON". The CPU waited approximately 12 milliseconds for the whole message, paper clipped with the data to be fully compiled in its inbox before relaying to a ground station on Earth's ONI HQ in Sydney Australia. Then as quickly as it had booted up it shut down.
EARTH SYDNEY AUSTRAILA ONI HQ BUILDING 7 MILES UNDER SYDNEY. GENERAL HAMANS OFFICE
After glancing over the weather reports in the paper General Haman was busy reading the main story about a major religious groups trying to raise money to get a ship off of earth to start a hidden colony in an asteroid belt to escape the unholy covenant conquest. Another story read about psychics predicting the coming of the Apocalypse. Suddenly his secretary ran into his office quite nervous, before she could say anything the general interrupted her. "Susie!" "I didn't want to be disturbed!" "I'm...I'm sorry sir. But...but" she stammered "you need to see it for yourself" "See what?!" he replied now mad that his off time had been interrupted. He was perplexed when Susie quickly walked over to his computer and entered the password to his e-mail. "HEY!" he exclaimed "that's a personal password how did you know it... what is that?" Susie back away from the computer and said, "that sir is a threat to all life on earth, and don't worry I have already taken the liberty of sending it to all the admiralty."

EARTH SAN FRANSISCO 2 MILES OUTSIDE CHINA TOWN 1500 HRS SEPTEMBER 13 2552
"Stop nagging me you have had enough sugar today and I said no!" "finally", the man on the bench thought. "Kids these days all they always want more then what they have" he watched as the mother gave in and bought the kid another soda before leaving the mall. "A pity" he thought, "another kid sending their generation down the drain." He stood up and walked over to a newspaper robot and placed his palm on the scanner slot. The robot quickly drained 65cents from the man's bank account and then opened the glass window enabling the man to reach in and grab a paper and be on his way. Quickly glancing over the front page he saw that the covenant had beaten the UNSC in another battle but with very few UNSC causalities. Personally he had seen what the covy ships could do in space and didn't really believe the UNSC was really wining this war. It was probably just the work of the UNSC's propaganda section as not to make some huge panic. He wondered how long it would be until the covies found Reach and then Earth. Little did he know that the covenant had already found and glassed the human planet outpost Reach and were on their way to earth for final conquest.
SOMEWHERE IN SLIPSPACE CONENANT SHIP, LIGHT OF THE ANCIENTS, BRIDGE. 2552 YEAR OF THE LIGHT As the ship master Onie "zamozee looked over his great battle cruiser through the outboard cameras he felt a swell of pride. "This" he thought, "is the ship that will lead all of the covenant to final victory against the unworthy ones." "It will grant me final passage into paradise in the afterlife." His ship was one of the finest in the entire fleet bristling with plasma weapons, lasers, seraph fighters and on top of that ground support for when they breached the humans defenses and waged the war on the ground of their doomed planet. Banshees, Wraiths, Ghosts, Phantoms and the deadly troops to accompany them. He looked up just as the bridge's doors parted revealing the minor prophet and its elite servant entered his bridge. He bowed his eyes instantly and then gave the prophet his day's data still averting his eyes. "We shall arrive at the humans planet in less then 48 cycles (two human days) your excellence." " I have already alerted the squad captains and they are to be ready 9 cycles after we reach the humans planet" he said, his eyes still locked to the floor. The prophet's elite servant briskly took a step forward and promptly backhanded the shipmaster across the face. The shipmaster was now enraged with anger and ferocity. Not that he had been hurt at the thought behind the action. If the elite had realized how angry the shipmaster was he did not show it. He quietly stepped back beside the prophet. The shipmaster's head swam with anger. As he made a lunge at the other elite to quickly dismember him the prophet put his left claw up and in a surprisingly forceful voice said "stop, that is unacceptable ship master." he said. " I want the entire fleet ready in 36 cycles and in their drop ships ready for the invasion as soon as we enter the humans solar system." Getting his rage under control, the shipmaster bowed his head and replied, "So it shall be done."
UNSC BATTLESHIP GETTYSBERG EN ROUTE TO EARTH 0900 SEPTEMPER 12 2552
As Linda disassembled her sniper rifle and the reassembled it for the eighth time she couldn't help but wonder what life would have been like if she had never been chosen for the Spartan program, never have encountered the covenant, never have honed her abilities to the max. Would she be in school, have a boyfriend, going to beaches and parties with her friends? She let out a sigh, " I guess it doesn't really matter anyway, I am in the Spartan program and I am fighting the covenant." She stood up walk over to the repair console and fingered the button to release the clamps on her battle armor. Fifteen minuets later she was in her battle armor and heading back to the bridge. When she reached the bridge she sat down in front of the console and began typing in a systems check f the ships outer hull. She then asked cortona, "hw much longer until we reach earth?" The AI replied, "ETA to earth in six hours". "Good" said Sergeant Johnson as he walked through the bridge doors. "The sooner we get to Earth the sooner we can have the guns waiting for the covies to blast them out of the sky!"

EARTH NEW MOMBASA PUBLIC VIEWING STATION 0600 SEPTEMBER 14 2552
The master chief stood at relaxed attention beside the admiral. It was one of the things that he hated most. He had the ability to run faster then any other human being in the world he could take down scores of the covenant soldiers with his bare fists and yet he was forced to stand at relaxed attention. He considered it an extreme waste of his abilities. Yet he stayed, kept to his orders, set an example for the rest of his team, what was left of it anyway. His team now dwindled at a low number of four Spartans and one MIA. The master chief (john), Will, Linda, and Fred. The MIA Spartan was Kelly who was taken on some other quest by the Spartan's creator Dr. Halsey. No one had any idea where they were or if they would ever see either of them again. The admiral's speech was a secret to everyone except to the rest of the admiralty. It was pretty obvious that it had something to do with the info that he, the other Spartans and cortona had brought from the trip back from the planet Reach, and of course the on coming covenant attack and the possible destruction of the human race.
The admiral had not only been rushed to complete his speech but he had to shock the whole world telling them that it was extremely likely that they were all going to die. He had included everything this time. The UNSC's huge failing war, the destruction of Reach, that almost all of the Spartans were actually dead and not actually MIA. He also told them that the draft that hadn't been used since WWI. Most of them hadn't even known what the draft was so he had to explain to them that if the draft came into effect all of the men over 16 and all of the single women with no kids would also be put into the UNSC. Many of them were shocked and out raged. Many said that this was just a stunt to get more women and men into the service. But then he greatly pressed the point that they were fighting for their existence. It was quiet after that. His words rang hollow in the great expanse of the stadium. They hadn't even pondered the chance that we may actually lose this war. In the end they had to except their fate or join the draft to fight for their lives and the lives of a million other humans.
IN ORBIT AROUND EARTH DOCKING AND REPAIR RING, BATTLESHIP GETTYSBURG 0747 HRS SEPTEMBER 14, 2552 Cortona had gone over the data that she had gotten from he time on halo. There was so much info that she got so fast and then with their current situation that they had faced on halo and on their trip over here to Earth she never really had time to study the info that she had so carefully gathered. This was her only really down time that she had to go over the data that she had gotten. First, there was the data gathered on the forerunners and how their civilization had ended so abruptly caused by the flood. It seems that the flood had been in the process of being contained and stored in the containment cells that the humans had later found them in, when some of them had gotten loose or had just evaded capture. The forerunners had been infected and the flood began to multiply. The monitor that Cortona had found very tiresome while their time on halo, had been forced to fire the antimatter emitter that destroyed all of the life in that current sector. Luckily the other rings hadn't been powered on yet, since the monitors of the other insulations were still completing basic dietary function tests on the flood tissue, but no other rings had living flood on them. When the monitor had fired the other rings weren't able to do the same, keeping the evolving humans alive. Ironically the cells that some of the flood that had been captured and put in deflected the emitter's rays and kept the hibernating flood inside alive. This is where the humans of the Pillar of Autumn found and then accidentally released the flood. How easy it would have been, she thought. If she had just chosen a different route so many good soldiers wouldn't have had to die. Then she had the crystal to think about. What was it? She still couldn't figure how it was made or its full abilities. She new that it had the ability took speed through slip space at that it had strange effects on artificial gravity beams and such. Even though she thought is was destroyed there was still the possibility that some of the shards still existed and since the covenant could trace the ship they had before when they had the crystal, what was stopping them from being able to trace the shards through space? A voice came over the loud speaker, "Cortona?" It was admiral hood. I have finished my speech and me and the Spartans will be coming back to the Gettysburg, which I trust has been reloaded with weapons and supplies?" "Yes sir" replied Cortona, "it was one of the first things that I had done when we arrived on earth. I thought that you might want the Gettysburg ready when the covenant get here" "Good thinking" was his reply. "I have always admired your ability to assess any situation- " "WARNING" interrupted Cortona. "I have just detected a growing battle group of more then 30 light class covenant carriers massing on my long-range sensors. It seems to be a first wave attack I am sending a distress signal down to the surface of Earth now. Admiral I suggest that you get the Spartans and yourself back up to the docking ring fast!"
EDGE OF JUITERS ORBIT COVENANT LEAD BATTLE CRUSIER, LIGHT OF THE ANCIENTS, BRIDGE SEPTEMBER 14, 2552 YEAR OF THE LIGHT
Onie "zamozee looked over the humans planet from his ship's outboard cameras and laughed at their pitiful attempt to get their ships in place for the first and final attack. So little of the human fighting ships remained. He was sure that having him in the lead battle ship and him giving the orders that his attack would be the only one needed. The humans usually only defeated their ships when they had the covenant greatly outnumbered. Even then the humans came away with badly damaged leftovers. As soon as the prophet gave him the signal to go ahead with the attack he would move in and destroy the humans for what they were, a nuisance and unholy rodents. A COM channel opened and a deep, strong voice echoed through the almost empty bridge, "ship master, you may now proceed with the destruction of the unholy ones." The elite replied, "So it shall be done" "Also ship master" the prophet began, "we want the human race to be fought face to face." We wish you to deal with the inadequate space battle ships then proceed with unloading the soldiers on to the ground." The elite was taken aback with this last piece of information. He knew that the humans were best at fighting on the ground, but he could not openly question a prophet. He replied, "so it shall be done master" the COM channel clicked off and the shipmaster called all ships to break orbit and head in attack formation towards the human planet. There would be blood spilt on this day and he knew that he would be welcome in paradise for his loyalty and great duty.
