Date: 18 October 2003, 6:42 PM
That is right y'all, if you read the name correctly, Jinkaiden and me has joined forces. Now, here is the thing about this new coop series. This is a series with no chapters, it can take place anywhere anytime. It can be a scary story, a comedy, sad, anything. Enjoy.
Tales From the Hook: Old Dead Man
Sergeant Johnson Carter of the 27th ODST—Orbital Drop Shock Trooper /Helljumpers—has been fighting the Covenant for days off of the coast of Guadalcanal. Sgt. Johnson only has fifteen men with him after everyone was spread all over the Solomon Islands fighting on scarce ammunition and medical attention. Pelican evacuation is almost impossible with the mass air treat of the Covenant armada. Covenant attacks on the 27th ODST are continues now, but fiercely, Sgt. Johnson fights back.
Sergeant Johnson sits upon a log on a beach waiting patiently to hear back from a recon unit of three men he had sent out thirty minutes ago. At an age of fifty the old gunny still has what it takes to be a badass Marine. He is almost the perfect example of a good soldier. He may be old, but unlike a lot of the young Marines, he gouts good experience and some sense on when to just back off. Although, he's a grumpy old man, a bad temper senior to say the least. But he is a very honorable person, and any of his men will take bullet for him.
Privet Josh Ferguson calmly walks over to his Sgt. Johnson, "Sir."
"What is it Marine?"
"We got a message from one of the split up ODST units from the Santa Cruz Island," he said, handing Sgt. Johnson the instant messaging corresponder.
"Let's see," he said, clicking on the message.
Orbital Drop Shock Trooper transmission 1023089-2H
From: Lt. Richie Perry (ODST service number 52860-19743-MP)
To: Sgt. Johnson Carter (ODST service number 0345-45132-MP)
Subject: Extraction is possible.
/start file/
Sgt. Johnson, we just got word from a team of Pelican pilots that are going to try and save us. It is going to be extremely difficult for them. In an hour some Longswords will fry the place, as Pelicans will attempt to extract us. Gather your men and be on the look out for the Pelicans, exercise extreme caution.
/end file/
"Private."
"Yes sir." This was Josh.
"Call for that recon team to get their asses back here, ASAP," he barked. "All right ladies listen up, in a hour there is supposed to be Pelicans coming for our rescue," the men cheered with joy. "Hold it!" Sgt. Johnson yelled, "we're not out of the woods yet, we still got them Covies to worry about. So be on the look out."
"Sir," Josh said. "The recon unit isn't responding, you don't think that¯" Sgt. Johnson cut him off.
"Dead," he said, "they are probably dead, the Covenant got them. Men, I think we might have some unwanted Covie visitors."
All of the Marines stood in their area passing up and down the beach and looking off in the partly dark jungles for Covenant. All cool and calm Sgt. Johnson stood in one spot, shifting his head left to right, surveying the area closely. Slowly everyone heard a faint humming sound, cautiously the entire unit cut down to only thirteen men now ran into the edge of the jungle, crouching down into the thick grass. As the humming sound grew loader, the men could for sure tell that it is a Covenant drop ship. "Okay men, soon as the doors on the drop ship opens, I would want y'all to kill whatever is moving," Sergeant Johnson whispered.
Slowly a Covenant drop ship came into their vicinity, stopping in mid air, the drop ship hovered down to the ground. The doors on the drop ship creak open, one by one three Grunts and two red Elites hop out of the drop ship. Quickly and shockingly the men sprung out of their hiding spot. Grenades flew through the air with small smoke trailing from the fuse. Each grenade landed softly on the sandy ground, all exploding only to take two Grunts. The finding their selves out number tried to get back in the drop ship. But two Marines with Jackhammers didn't let that happen. The two Marines fired their weapons at the drop ship, with a load explosion the drop ship blew up and crashed in the ground killing a Grunt and an Elite.
Quickly, Sgt. Johnson's men took care of the Covenant. "Covenant ground transport is coming or way!" A Marine shouted over the COM channel.
Sgt. Johnson still had his cool even when he saw the two transports coming his way. He figured there is probably ten to fifteen of them coming, he was close; there was roughly seventeen Covenant troops. Five Elites, all blue, eight Grunts, and two Jackals and two Brutes.
All of the Covenant troops hop off the transport, with a battle cry from one of the Jackals, the Covenant started to charge at them fiercely. Quickly, both of the armed transport vehicles were taking out by the last three Jackhammer shells. Guns from both sides opened up, yellow tracers flew into the Covenant, green and blue plasma burned into the Marines.
Sgt. Johnson and his badass rugged self fired wildly at the Covenant troops. He manages to take out two red Grunts and a Jackal with an orange shield. Two Marines both prepared two frag grenades; quickly they pop the pin off and chunking it at the Covenant pack. Two Elite jumped out of the way, three Grunts tried to jump out of the way, but it was to late, the fuse ran out on the grenade killing all three.
A Marine with a plasma grenade charges it up. Quickly he threw the grenade sticking it on a Grunt's helmet. The Grunt reacting stupidly ran towards a Brute and a Jackal. The Grunt stop near them yelling, "get it off me!" The little demon tried to get his helmet off, but in a matter of seconds, the grenade exploded in a bluish fiery explosion. The Jackal and the Brute were killed in the detonation.
A different Marine that was actually a sniper but didn't have a sniper rifle fired his MA5B assault rifle at two Elites. With his sniper personality, he look through a scope on 10x range, he fired only two rounds into the unshielded Elite's head. Than another two round shot in the other exposed Elite's head. An Elite fired his weapon at a Marine furiously. Without having time to react, the Marine—with a mortal head wound—fell to the ground without a word. "Man down!" A Marine yelled.
"Them Pelicans better hurry up!" This was Sgt. Johnson. Sgt. Johnson jammed a freash clip into his MA5B AR and fired at an Elite. The bullets from his gun knock off the Elite's shield, wildly the Elite's body shook back and fort from the rapid fire. Finally Johnson releases the trigger of the gun as the Elite's body felled to the ground. Shortly after there was only one Covenant troop left—a Brute. The Brute lowered his Ginsu 9000, he reach down to one of his liquid battle grenade with the Marine like to call a Kaboom stick, 'cause when they throw it, it goes KABOOM!
The Brute than took the so call Kaboom stick and roughly threw it at a pack five Marines. Boom! The Kaboom stick exploded killing all five Marines, Sgt. Johnson all pissed off fired the rest of his clip into the beast, and he killed the Brute with vengeance. "Sir," a Marine said. "I heard that the Pelicans are on their way."
"Good." Sgt. Johnson replied.
"Yeah, well. A very large Covenant battalion is also making their way here." The Marine said. "The Pelican already have gotten the other deserted Helljumpers, only twenty survived."
"Alright, lets all move into the jungle, maybe we could hide there in till evac arrives."
All of the troops replied with a yes sir. Quickly the unit went into the jungle not to far but about fifty feet in. Suddenly there was an explosion, a plasma explosion, the Covenant battalion was right in front of them the whole time. "The Covenant!" A Marine screamed.
The unit fired at the Covenant blindly, not seeing where they are, they fired in every direction. Soon Pelicans started to close in landing on the shore of the island. "This is Pelican pilot Bravo 619, get out of jungle before it is nuked."
"All of y'all go to the drop ship while I hold them off!" Sgt. Johnson ordered.
"But sir-" The Marine was cut off.
"That is an order Marines!" The Marines obeyed his order and ran for the Pelican. One by one the rest of the Marine got aboard. The Pelican left off of the ground; Sgt. Johnson fried his weapon wildly at the oncoming Covenant. Quickly there was a screech in the sky; it was the Longswords. Nukes from all five Longsword were release screaming down towards the island. Sgt. Johnson didn't stop shooting in till the nukes hit the ground annihilating close to everything on the island.
Sgt. Johnson, brave battle-hardened Marine, was among them.
