Halo 2: The Covenant Wars [Chapter 1]

Author's Note: This is my first Halo 2 story but not my last, so I hope that you like it. Enjoy.
The four Pelican dropships flew over the vast Alaskan landscape due directly north. The Master Chief was securely fastened to the seat closes to the drop exit door. " Ok marines lets lock and load. ETA in 5 minutes." Said the pilot over the com channel. The Master Chief Took his new MA7B assault rifle with a 5x magnification scope and loaded it. Then he took out his M6D pistol loaded it, cocked it and slid it in place in his holstered. He was fully loaded with frag grenades and ammo and was ready to kick some ass.
" ETA in 1 minute." Announced the pilot. The Master Chief looked around him and saw the determination on all of the marines and smiled, he wasn't the only one eager for a fight with the Covenant. There was a soft thud as the Pelican dropship landed lightly on the snow covered surface. " Lets hit it marines!" Shouted Cortana as the dropship's exit door flung open letting a cold arctic wind sweep through the holding bay of the dropship.
In the distance the Master Chief spotted dozens of Covenant figures. There were at least 10 jackals armed with plasma pistols, 20 grunts armed with needlers and 15 elites armed with plasma rifles. The Master Chief held up his hand telling the other marines to pause. He motioned for Pvt. Jenkins to take out his sniper rifle. He did and looked into the guns 10x magnification scope and open fire. One jackal and 2 grunts fell with shots to the head. The others, seeing their comrades fall, assumed a invasion and fled for cover.
Pvt. Jenkins put away his sniper and pulled out his double SMGs, one for each hand. The SMG fires even faster than the assault rifle. " Master Chief lets move, We don't have much time." Announced Cortana anxiously. " Ok marines lets move out!" Shouted the Master Chief. As they came into firing range, the air crackled around them as plasma bolts whizzed by. The Master Chief rolled into a crouch behind some crates and opened fire at four grunts who's needlers had run out of ammo. As the Master Chief peered into the 5x magnification scope of his MA7B assault rifle, his shield dropped a quarter of an inch and he realized that a jackal had found his cover and opened fired.
But not for long. The Master Chief turned around and fired four times into the middle of the jackal's shield. As the alien staggered backwards, the Master Chief jumped up and brought the bunt end of his gun down hard into the aliens face. The jackal fell backwards under the force of the blow, and blue blood erupted from of it's face. " FIRE IN THE HOLE!!" Shouted a marine somewhere in front of the Master Chief. Three seconds later a frag grenade exploded, sending three jackals and four grunts flying throw the air, blood stained.
Looking back into the scope of his MA7B assault rifle, he picked off the gunners of the four shades sending them tumbling out of the gunner seats, dead. The Master Chief ran over to one of the shades, threw one grenade under three of the shades and hoped into the gunner seat. Three seconds later the grenades exploded, sending the shades flipping in the air and crushing three grunts when they landed. The gunners seat on the last remaining shade vibrated as the Master Chief let a wave of plasma soar through the air and into four elites. The elites roared out in anger and pain before they fell over the side of a very big cliff.
" Gotcha you son of a........!" " Master Chief, im reading some pretty big signals just at the bottom of that cliff." Interrupted Cortana. " Sir you might want to have a look at this!" Shouted Pvt. Johnson from the edge of the cliff. The Master Chief climbed down from the gunners seat of the shade and quickly walk over to Pvt. Johnson. " What's the matter Pvt." Asked The Master Chief. " Sir," Pvt. Johnson Replied as he handed over his sniper rifle, " There seems to be two heavy artillery vehicles coming this way."
The Master chief looked into the 10x magnification scope and what he say was horrifying. There were indeed two covenant vehicles heading this way, one wraith tank and one new covenant hovercraft. The new covenant vehicle had a small plasma gun mounted on the back with a cockpit able to hold two people. Behind the hostile vehicles were two hunters, two new covenant and three elites. The new covenants were about eight feet tall and appeared to be very heavy and muscular. The brown fur scattered about their limbs and torso was rough and dirty. The uncovered skin was like living rock. The armor covering the creatures' torso, arms and head seemed to be a lighter, flattened version of the hunters' shield weapons. They had horrifying faces, with small, dangerous eyes, gaping mouths and snorting snouts. Their guns appeared to be a variation of a fuel rod weapon, and had a menacing scythe running along the bottom. The beasts also had belts of red cylinders, possibly a new kind of grenade.
The covenant force was rounding its way up the side of the mountain. " Marines listen up. There are a new kind of covenant and they look like their tougher then the other covenant, stay low and aim for their heads." Informed the Master Chief as he threw the empty clip of his assault rifle down on the ground and snapped a full one in place. " Lock and load. This thing ain't over till all of the covenant are dead." Said the Master Chief. " Sir yes sir!" Shouted the marines in unison.
A plasma bolt soared barley over the head of the Master Chief and slammed into a crate that was holding plasma grenades and erupted into a massive plasma fire ball. The Master Chief turned around and peered into the scope of his assault rifle and opened fire on the covenant along with the other marines. Before you knew it, the elites were terminated and the only aliens left were the hunters and the new type of covenant aliens. " Cortana what the hell are those new aliens and the new covenant vehicle?" Asked the Master Chief. " Hacking into the covenant battle net.... if im correct, those aliens are called "brutes" and that new vehicle is called a shadow." Replied Cortana.
That instant a brute jumped of the gunners seat of the shadow towards the Master Chief, but the Master Chief fired four quick shots into the aliens head. The alien jerked in midair before it fell to the ground with a loud thud. Slowly orange blood flowed out of the brutes head like a orange stream. All most instantly, a brute hopped into the gunners seat of the shadow and opened fire on the marines. Six marines screamed out in pain as the plasma rounds practically melted them. " Cortana we need to do something now or else there will be nothing left for evac!" Shouted the Master Chief over the roar of screams and gun fire. " Ok, lets move. There is one abandoned wraith tank over there." Said Cortana as a nav point popped up in his HUD. " Ok, here we go!" Shouted the Master Chief as he ran out into the line of fire. Rounds from the covenants needlers bounced off of his armor and exploded when they hit the ground.
When he reached the wraith tank there was a hunter patrolling the area. The Master Chief switched to shredder rounds and aimed at the middle of the hunters back, and before the hunter could turn around he let a dozen bullets soar through the air and into the hunters back. The alien let a roar of anger escape before it fell flat onto its face and orange blood splattered the ground "Cortana the door is locked." Said the Master Chief. " Ok....there. Replied Cortana as the door popped open and the Master Chief hopped in.
The inside was different than the Master Chief had ever seen. There was a plasma screen showing what was going on outside and there was numerous controls and bottoms. " Cortana, how do you drive this thing?" Asked the Master Chief as he looked at all of the controls. " Let me handle this please." Said Cortana as she took control. The wraith tank lunged forward running over a brute and continued on its way. The image of a hunter appeared on the screen and its fuel rod gun charged and a bolt of plasma soared through the air towards the wraith tank. But Cortana easily dodged it and let a big ball of plasma fly through the air and slam into the hunter making it fly backwards and fall into another one before they both, entangled, fell over the side of the cliff.
" Covenant drop ship inbound." Said one of the marines over the com channel. The Master Chief looked at the screen and saw a covenant drop ship about twenty meters from where they were. " Not for long." Mumbled the Master Chief as he sent another big ball of plasma flying through the air towards the covenant drop ship. The drop ship's shields shimmered and then went out, and that's when Pvt. Wayne pulled out his jackhammer missile launcher and opened fire. The missile streaked across the sky and struck the drop ship on the starboard side making it explode into a massive fire ball. " Yeah that's the way to do it!" Shouted one of the marines.
As the Master Chief stepped out of the wraith tank, the unmistakable sound of a Pelicans engine filled the air. A few yards away the Pelican dropship landed and the marines hopped. Welcome aboard marines and Master Chief, sir." Said the pilot over the com channel. " Mission complete Master Chief." Said Cortana. " And I couldn't have done it with out you." Answered the Master Chief as the dropship took off. " And yeah, you couldn't have." Replied Cortana. The Master Chief smiled as the dropship banked right to take them home.
Halo2: The Covenant Wars

The Master Chief stomped down on the accelerator of his ATV and shot forward. Plasma bolts whizzed past him, slamming into trees as the Master Chief swerved around them. Pvt. Johnson swerved around a tree, missing it by inches, and looked back. Two Banshees were closing in on them and firing their plasma cannons along the way. A plasma bolt struck the ground next to the Master Chief, sending his ATV onto two wheels and through the four foot wide gap between two trees.
Up ahead was the entrance to HQ. Two marines were up ahead by the entrance kneeling down with jackhammer missile launchers on their shoulders. There was a pop, follow by the trail of smoke of two missile as they left their launching tubes of the two jackhammer missile launchers and soared through the air to intercept the two Banshees. Both the Master Chief and Pvt. Johnson ducked as the two missiles past over head and slammed into their targets. The two Banshees erupted into two crimson and orange fire balls.
One Hour Later After a long and well deserved shower, the Master Chief walked out of his tent and over to Sargent Miller who was waiting by the mission briefing tent. HQ consisted of marines barracks, a mission briefing tent, a well guarded ammo locker that was the size of about four regular tents, sleeping quarters for the high ranking officers and the Master Chief had his own tent. There were also four stationary machine guns guarding each of the entrances and exits. It could probably hold off a small covenant army for a short time.
The Master Chief walked up to Sargent Miller and saluted. " Sir reporting as ordered sir." Said the Master Chief. " At ease son." Replied Sargent Miller. The Master Chief dropped his salute and walked into the tent after the Sargent. " Can you tell me what the heck happened out there." Asked Sargent Miller. " Yes sir. We were engaged by covenant forces during a routine patrol, sir." Answered the Master Chief. " Very well then," Replied Sargent Miller, "Your new mission is this. UNSC's ground forces have been engaged by the covenant and need immediate help. They are located here, and have been giving the covenant a real strong fight." Explained Sargent Miller as he pointed at locations on a map.
" So you want me to go in there and get them out?" Asked the Master Chief. " Precisely." Replied the Sargent. " Ok, I'll do it." Informed the Master Chief. " Good. Dust off in thirty minutes so be ready." Replied Sargent Miller. " Sir yes sir." Said the Master Chief and gave a crisp salute before turning on his heels and marching out.
Thirty-five Minutes Later
The Master Chief and his team of marines hopped into the Pelican as it hovered a few inches off the ground waiting. The Master Chief sat down and took out his MA7B assault rifle and checked the magazine. Empty. That figures. Thought the Master Chief as he replaced the empty magazine with a full one. " ETA in 30 minutes," Announced Cortana over the com channel, " So lets brief the mission. This is how its goin to work.
" There is a army of about 1,000 Covenant forces that we have to over take, and at the same time rescue some UNSC's ground forces who have been engaged by Covenant forces. Any questions? Asked Cortana. " No. Ok then lets get ready for a hell of a fight." Said Cortana. " 1,000 of them and 24 of us. " Pys-poor odds for the little guys." Said a marine joking. The Master Chief laughed at the joke and went back to work. He sat down his MA7B assault rifle and picked up his double barreled shotgun. This time the clip was full. What a surprise. Thought the Master Chief to him self.
" How the heck did the Covenant find earth?" Asked a marine. " I don't know but what I do know is that the Covenant are goin to pay for their slaughters." Replied Sargent Warner. " Hey guys...." " Watch it." " O sorry. Hey guys and g-i-r-l-s girls. Is that better?" "Yes it is Pvt. Thank you." " As I was. Hey guys and girls guess what? Sargent Warner actually knows something." Exclaimed Pvt. Resh followed by laughter.
" Hahaha. So very funny. Next time why don't you shut it or you will be the only person in heaven in a wheel chair." Replied Sargent Warner. "Marines pull yourself together and concentrate on the task in front of us." Said the Master Chief. " Sir, yes sir!" Shouted a handful of marines. " Alright! Now, if all you girls are done with your jabbering.... " Sir yes we are sir! " .... " Alright that's what I like to hear. Lets move out then!"
They marched on for about a mile and a half when the scout in the front of the line signaled to stop and hold positions. The Master Chief slowly walked up to the scout from his position in the back, being the tail scout, in a crouching position. " What's going on?" Whispered the Master Chief quietly. The scout didn't answer but instead pointed to a position about 55 yards off to their right. The Master Chief nodded and turned around to face the eager waiting marines. He held up his right hand and pointed to the right and towards the enemy contact. Then he whispered, " Im going to try and sneak around the back of this building and see if I can get a spot on top to snipe them."
The marines acknowledge lights winked on, and then they patted their guns meaning that they will give him cover fire if needed. The Master Chief made a ok sign with his fingers and then moved on, past the front scout and around the building's corner. He stopped for a brief second to evaluate his situation. There was about two brutes and three or four Jackals standing in front of a building about four buildings down, talking or something like that.
As he approached the far side of the building he heard some rustling around the corner. The Master Chief stopped and put his back to the building, then took out his SMG's, since he needed to save the MA7B assault rifle for the sniping. The Master Chief counted to 5, and then rolled out from his cover with guns at ready. " Gees." Mumbled the Master Chief when he realized that it was just a stray fur ball that humans call a cat. [He remembered reading that once.] Now more alert, the Master Chief kept his SMG's out, and continued at a slow steady pace. He soon found a latter towards the middle of the building and started up. When he reached the top he hopped up and onto the surface of the building and pulled out his MA7B assault rifle.
The Master Chief then laid flat on his stomach with the gun's tripod out, steadied his weaponed on the first Brute and whispered, " Enemy spotted and...." BAM!! " Tango down." At this state the rest of the Covenant took cover and returned fire. BAM!! BAM!! Two more went down and fell into their own blue and orange blood. A burst of gun fire came from below and a Jackal and a Brute went down. " All enemy contacts neutralized." Informed the Master Chief after a quick look through the scope.

As soon as the Master Chief came back down and took his place in line, they continued on. They hadn't gone far when forhammer radioed in through th comm channel saying, " Master Chief this is forhammer, do you read?" " Forhammer this is cortana, we read you just find." " Im headed your way with two warthogs and a Scorpion." " Good we could use some transportation down here." " Well then its your lucky day. ETA in 2 minutes, meet me at north of 24th street." " Yes ma'am." Replied the Master Chief.

About 4 minutes later, the Master Chief and his team of marines moved out and headed, in there two warthogs and one scorpion with the Master Chief driving the scorpion, towards....well to tell you the truth really no where just where ever the Covenant was. They moved out in a formation with the scorpion in the middle and the two warthogs, one on either side. All of the sudden the warthog on the right flipped over as an explosion landed right next to it. The driver never made it out but the gunner and the passenger got out and sprinted behind the warthog which was now on its side.
The Master Chief turned the barrel towards a group which consisted of one Hunter, and two Brutes and then fired. The hunter and one of the brutes went flying through the air and slammed into a building across the war zone and exploded into orange blood. The other warthog slammed on its brakes and the driver and passengers jumped out and dove around the corner behind another building, just as the warthog exploded into a green fireball. " Damn!" Shouted the Master Chief as he spun the cannon around once more and aimed at an old run down car where a hunter was hiding. An explosion rocked the tank as left over fuel from the car ignited and exploded. Orange blood splattered the front of the Scorpion tank as it drove by. The Master Chief slammed on the brakes and one marine went flying off the front, but scrambled back to his feet, and followed the Master Chief and the rest of the squad as they scrambled out and off of the Scorpion tank. The Master Chief sprinted towards the up turned warthog and dove behind it, just as a plasma grenade went off.
" Sir we are surrounded..... what should we do?" Nervously asked a marine. " Just follow me and do what I do and you'll be fine." Replied the Master Chief. " Thank you sir." Said the marine. " Lets move!" The Master Chief rolled out from behind the warthog with guns blazing. Two Grunts fell into a heap of their own blood as a Jackal flew backwards from the explosion of a marines frag grenade. " Damn that was close!" Shouted a marine, as they made it to the other warthog and took cover there. The Master Chief took out his double barrel shotgun and checked the clip.
" Still full." Mumble the Master Chief. Without wasting another second the Master Chief leaned out of his hiding spot, but quickly pulled his head back in as a plasma bolt went whizzing past. " Damn! They have us all cramped up!" Shouted the Master Chief in frustration. One marine tried to lean out but lost half his head by a yet another plasma bolt. " Oh hell no!" A marine shouted as he rolled out from his cover and fired. A Grunt took 4 or 5 rounds in the head and went down.
The marine then adjusted his aim and let loose half a clip into an Elite's chest and then finally was brought down by a Jackal. The marine took the plasma bolt in the leg, but managed to crawl back behind the warthog. After a congratulations from just about ever marine hiding in that spot, he laid back and past out. " Lock and load!" Shouted the Master Chief, " And give me some cover fire. Im goin out!" Without waiting for a reply, he jumped out and pumped a round right into a Elites head. Something struck him from behind and his shield bar went down an eighth.
The Master Chief turned around and saw a Grunt and fired. The shotgun kicked, and the grunt plastered against the wall of a store. The Master Chief swung his whole arm around and caught another Grunt, who was trying to sneak up behind him, and sent him flying into a pile of trash. " Just where you belong." Mumbled the Master Chief. Some gun fire rained down on him from atop of a building across the street, but the Master Chief was able to dodge all of them but one which struck him on the shoulder, and his shield bar went down a 3rd of the way.
The Master Chief swung his SMG's over the top of a flipped Warthog, and fired randomly. One and a half grunts fell from the top of the building, and landed on top of a car, sounding the car alarm. " Damn! Just what we need!" Grunted the Master Chief in frustration. The Master Chief leaned out form behind the Warthog, and fired at the car with the alarm going off. The car exploded, engulfing a near by truck, and some Jackels and Grunts. The truck then exploded which started a chain reaction. Car after car exploded, sending molted medal, and alien chunks flying.
After about 10 seconds, the chain reaction finally subsided. A total of about 12 cars were burning, sending a strong odor of dead alien and gasoline into the air. " Lovely." Chuckled the Master Chief as he reloaded his gun. " Grenade!!!!" Shouted a marine. To late, a plasma grenade landed on the Master Chief's head and stuck there. " Shit!" Was all he could say.
************************ 5....4.... " Shit." ....3....2.... " Damn." ....1. The Master Chief braced himself, but nothing happened. The Master Chief opened one eye, then the other, and sighed with relief. Great, so now I have a fire works display on the top of my head. Well that makes me a target. Thought the Master Chief. Plasma bolts struck the ground around him, and broke his strand of thought.
The Master Chief looked around but couldn't find the source of the fire. BAM!! A round from a sniper rifle whizzed past his right side of his helmet. " What the...." Was all the Master Chief said before he turned around, and noticed that there was a Elite, with a Plasma rifle pointed an inch form the back of his head, dead where a round from a sniper rifle had stricken it right between the eyes.
The Master Chief turned back around and noticed a marine with a smoking sniper rifle pointed out from behind the scorpion. The Master Chief mouthed a shocked thank you. The marine nodded and reloaded. Sir, there are no more reported Covenant in the area." Reported Cortana. " Are there anymore on Earth?" Asked the Master Chief. " Searching Covenant battle net.....I don't understand....." Said Cortana. " What?" Replied the Master Chief. " There seems to be no more Covenant Aliens on earth at all. Replied Cortana. " So." Said the Master Chief casually. " So? Well the Covenant never give up this easy." Informed Cortana. " Well they did this time. So, well then lets go home." Said the Master Chief. " Yes sir." Replied Cortana.
" You heard him troops! Lets go!" Shouted cortana, again. A cheer erupted from the marines as they all scrambled onto Pelicans 4 minutes later. As happy as the Master Chief was to go home, he had a queasy feeling that maybe the Covenant hadn't given up, but were just planning something big. So big and secret that not even USNC intelligence knew about it. The Master Chief adjusted how he was sitting and let his thoughts wonder as they lifted from the battle that they had just fought, but yet it seemed so ancient, and headed home....for good.

Author's Note: Srry it took so long again! I was so pissed because I was almost done w/ my 3rd one, but we had to take our computer in And they found about 3,000 viruses, so they had to delete everything on our computer!
The Master Chief and his team of hand picked marines waited anxiously for deployment. The Pelican banked to the right and the Master Chief shifted in his seat. "ETA, 2 minutes." Announced Eco914. "All right marines, heads up. Our mission is to over take a UNSC's headquarters which has been over run by Covenant forces. It isn't going to be easy, but that's why you have been selected. Ok, check your gear and get ready for a hellava fight." As the Pelican drop ship started its descent, the Master Chief checked his mags. for both his MA7B assault rifle and his double SMG's, and found them both full. "Engaging Covenant forces. Prepare for deployment." Announced Eco914 over the comm channel. The Master Chief slid his two right fingers over his two left fingers several times, signaling a "touch and go". A "touch and go" means just that. As soon as the Pelican touched down, they were all to move quickly so the Pelican didn't stay a sitting duck too long. They all acknowledged and waited. "Alright.... Go, go, go!" All the 14 marines including the Master Chief hopped out and fell into line, then The Master Chief pointed forward and they all moved out. Pvt. Ensign eyed their LZ, and let out a low whistle. The headquarters was a 50 story building that towered over all the others. They hadn't gone more than 60 yards when they ran into the Covenant. A group of grunts were patrolling the perimeter of their LZ, and two shades were set up at the entrance. "Alpha team, you're in charge of those two shades. Fall back and set up snipers here, and here." Ordered the Master Chief as he highlighted points on his heads up display, which were then sent to the marines. Seven acknowledge lights winked on and they moved out. "Bravo team, we'll stay here and take out the grunts, and clean up any mess afterwards." Another seven acknowledge light winked on.
* * * * * *
BAM! BAM! Two shots burst form the muzzle of Pvt. O'Connor's S2 AM sniper rifle. Two 14.5 armor piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot rounds soared through the air towards the two shades. One round caught one of the Grunts in the head, and blood erupted from its wound. The other round ricocheted off of the armor of the other shade, and harmlessly dropped to the ground. The grunt looked around and laced the air with purple plasma, aiming at nothing. The Master Chief primed the pin off of his frag grenade and tossed it under the Shade. The Grunt was still firing when the grenade went off. The grenade exploded, and the Shade flipped into the air, and then landing on another Grunt's head, who was frantically running around in circles. The Master Chief looked through the scope of his MA7B assault rifle and fired a round right into a Grunt's chest; it slumped out of the shade and fell to the ground. The other Grunt that was hiding behind some bushes, jumped out and fired at the Master Chief's position. Needles locked onto his armor and exploded, making his shield bar drop. The Master Chief adjusted his aim and fired. The bullet punctured the Grunt's methane tank, and the Grunt squealed once then fell over....dead. "Chief. I'm detecting Covenant forces, about 10, around this wall. I suggest we enter the building using stealth." Informed Cortana. "Alright, from here on out hand signals only, no chatter and try to stay in the shadows. We're going to try to sneak past these Covenant bastereds and enter the LZ here and here." Said the Master Chief as he marked their entrances on the heads up display. "Alpha team: Sergeant Luskey, Pvt. O'Connor, Pvt. Ensign, Pvt. Peterson, and Pvt. Harrison, you're going to enter the LZ here and remove any threats and then rendezvous with Bravo team here. Sergeant Luskey you have tactical command over Alpha team. Move out!" Ordered the Master Chief. "The rest are Bravo team including me. We're going to sneak in the front entrance of OUR building and take it back." Alpha team and Bravo team split up and moved silently through the shadows towards there destinations. The Master Chief looked to his left and saw low gentle rolling hills, and to his right he saw rugged mountains where the ground was cracked and dry from barley any rain. Each time the shadows ended, they stopped and surveyed the area and then one at a time sprinted the distance to the newly beginning shadow. The lead scout held up his fist, signaling to stop, and they did. Pvt. Stephens then pointed to his right about 40 yards up, to where a small group of Jackals were clustered together. Everyone's acknowledge lights winked on, and Pvt. Walker then broke formation and headed to there right about 20 yards, where he set up his sniper and took aim. The first Jackal came into view and he fired. The bullet went flying through the open part of the Jackal's shield, and slammed into its shoulder. Blood oozed from the wound and the jackal stumbled to the ground. The rest of the Jackals opened fire and the marines scattered and took cover. One marine wasn't as lucky and took a plasma bolt to the leg. He stumbled, but managed to drag himself behind a rock the jutted out of the earth in a lighting bolt shape. The Master Chief peered around the corner of the stone wall, and fired. The Jackal that was running for cover caught the round in the back and fell over. Pvt. Walker fired and another Jackal fell. With only 2 more Jackals left the ground was covered in blue blood, making a ghostly scene. "Fire in the hole!!" A marine shouted from somewhere behind the Master Chief. A second later a frag grenade soared over his head and landed behind the Jackals and there exposed part of their bodies, and detonated. Blue blood splattered along the inside their shields and the shields vanished. In their place was a kind of wrist band. BOOM! An explosion rocked the ground, and glass rained down on them. Flashes came from the upstairs windows, followed by more explosions and shouting. "I guess Alpha team is having as much luck as us." Mumbled Pvt. Williams as he reloaded his SMG's and switched them out for his MA7B assault rifle. "Alright, heads up and eyes sharp. Be ready for anything." Said the Master Chief as they fell back into formation. The marines all nodded and silently continued on. BAM! A shot erupted from the Master Chief's MA7B assault rifle, and a grunt slumped over the railing of an upstairs balcony and fell 24 stories down to the ground. Blood splattered the wall of a nearby generator room. No one said anything, obviously tensed and waiting for a fight with the Covenant. "Chief there's a door leading to the elevators. I suggest that we head that way and ride the elevator to the rendezvous location with Alpha team." Said Cortana. "Yes ma'am." Replied the Master Chief. "Ok you heard her marines! Move!" They headed out and soon came to a door marked: Elevator. The lead scout kicked it open and swept the inside with his gun. Then they all followed with their fingers on the triggers of their weapons. The Master Chiefs words, be ready for anything, must have stuck to the marines, because they were very tense and the Master Chief could literally smell the fear and excitement in the marines. They reached the elevators to only find them jammed. Luckily Pvt. Carson had the tools to blow the damn thing open. It took Pvt. Carson 2 minutes to set the charges and take cover. 5 seconds later Carson pushed the detonator and, BOOM! The doors blew open. They creaked on their hinges as the doors swung back and forth. "Nice job Carson. Now let's move out, when we reach the top and the doors start to part, be ready. I'm sure with the noise we just made the Covenant are waiting for us." Informed the Master Chief. "With all do respect Chief; I don't think that the marines are up to this." Said Cortana through a private comm. channel with the Master Chief. "All I'm saying is that you should climb up the elevator shaft and clear out the area before we send up the marines." "Good idea Cortana." Replied the Master Chief. He turned around and addressed Bravo team. "I'm going to head up before and clear out the area. Once the coast is clear I'll send down a glow stick and that's your signal to come on up. During the mean time I want you guys to hold position down hear and guard the elevator, this is probley going to be our way out. Alright good luck. See you in about 10." Informed the Master Chief as he sheathed both of his weapons. The Master Chief grabbed the elevator cable and started up. One hand after another, slowly and steadily he made his way up. When he was half way to the top, he stopped and looked at his motion sensor. The only contacts were those of his fellow comrades below.... But suddenly a red dot.... No two.... Dozens started popping up and then some disappear only to be replaces by others. The Master Chief glanced down and saw nothing but blackness. He took one hand off to unsheathe his SMG's, so that he would be ready when he came face to face with the Covenant. BOOM!! An explosion ripped through the building and dust swirled down on them. "Shit...." Was all the Master Chief could say before his grip on the cable gave away and he begun to fall into the darkness, then The Master Chief vanished, swallowed by the darkness below..............

Since I haven't posted a story in a while I thought that I would split this one story in half, and finish it in the other half of the story, which I hope to be done by march [if I have enough time]. [PART 1 REVIEW] The Master Chief glanced down and saw nothing but blackness. He took one hand off to unsheathe his SMG's, so that he would be ready when he came face to face with the Covenant. BOOM!! An explosion ripped through the building and dust swirled down on him. "Shit...." Was all the Master Chief could say before his grip on the cable gave away and he begun to fall into the darkness, then The Master Chief vanished, swallowed by the darkness below..............
In mid fall, the Master Chief sheathed his SMG and grabbed the cable. Sparks flew into the air, as his armor dug into the cables in his attempt to slow down, illuminating the darkness around him. "Master Chief what's your status?" Barked Sergeant Luskey as the Master Chief finally jerked to a stop and slammed into the wall. "Um.... just hanging around." Replied the Master Chief jokingly. "Ok....well sir you might want to see this. We are at the rendezvous location and awaiting orders." Informed Sergeant Luskey. "Ok we'll be there as soon as possible. For now just patrol the rendezvous' perimeter until we get there." Ordered The Master Chief. "Yes, sir." Replied Sergeant Luskey as he signed off. The Master Chief continued up the cable. Stopping once to check his gear to see if there was anything damaged from the fall. Nothing was. Five minutes later he had reached the top, and paused briefly to check his motion sensors....clear....and then his weapons....fine. "Alpha team what's your status?" Asked the Master Chief. There was no response. "Alpha team do you read?" The Master Chief tried again. Still no response. "Damnit Alpha." He grunted as he took out the last one of his glow sticks, broke it, and then watched as the green illumination from it disappeared into the darkness. A rewarding thunk filled the small chamber as it hit the ground 100 feet below. Sergeant Iverson's voice broke the eerie silence surrounding him. "Chief, acknowledged. We'll be there as soon as possible." The Master Chief shut off his comm. channel for now since he didn't know if he was being monitor or not by the Covenant. He then pried open the elevator doors that separated him from the rendezvous location with Alpha team, and climbed up and over the edge. Taking out his MA7B assault rifle, he looked around the small room that he was now standing and observed it. It looked to be a small access chamber that lead into a bigger one through a well secured oak door. On his right there was a computer sitting on a well polished glass table, casting a ghostly green light over the dark room. Off to his left were.... Damnit thought the Master Chief as he noticed two dead Elites, and a couple of dead Jackals laying on the well kept burgundy carpet. Blue and purplish blood flowed out of the wounds, giving the carpet a new color. Well, besides that, there were two chairs facing diagonally towards each other, plus a couch leaning against the far wall. Even though it was small, it looked well stocked. The Master Chief tried again to reach Alpha team but without prevail. He then walked over to the oak door and noticed that to access it you needed hand print and eye identification. Wow, what's ever behind this door I guess someone doesn't want us to find it. Pondered the Master Chief. Seconds' later Bravo team arrived and informed that their escape route was clear for now. "What the hell happened here?" Asked Pvt. Rodriguez as he glanced at the decaying Covenant. "I don't know. Although I have a theory...." "What's your theory?" asked Cortana. "Well see here," the Master Chief said as he pointed towards one of the wounds, "It seems as though the Elite was killed by a puncture wound. Like the ones the Flood cause." "So you're saying that the flood are here. Right now, somewhere in this building." Pvt. Rodriguez asked. "Yes, and I think I have an idea where." Said the Master Chief as he glanced nervously at the secured oak door. "There." He pointed to where he was looking and everyone shifted there gaze to the door.

"Alpha team do you read?" A hazy voice asked over the comm. channel. "Chief is that you?" Sergeant Luskey asked. No response came. "Chief I read you loud and clear." He informed. The comm. channel clicked off and static was the only response that he got. A burst of gun fire erupted from Pvt. Harrison next to him and a grunt dropped dead in its tracks. "Damnit Ensign! Fire your weapon!" Shouted Sergeant Luskey as he eliminated another Jackal. Dozens upon dozens of Covenant swarmed into the large storage bay area that they had wondered upon while securing the rendezvous perimeter. Finally Pvt. Ensign came to his senses and started to fire his weapon. He soon eliminated two grunts and one Jackal. He then rolled from his position and pumped two rounds squarely into a Grunt's head, sending it flipping backwards and spraying blood along his face. While wiping the oozing blue blood off of his face he blindly fired a shot into another Grunts face; killing it. "Fall back!!" Hollered Sergeant Luskey as he stopped firing long enough to get up and run like hell. Soon all the other marines caught on and followed the Sergeant who was now sprinting towards the back wall. "Shit, it's a dead end!" Nervously shouted Pvt. O'Connor who was chewing at his fingernails like mad. "Stop complaining marine. Toughen up and pull yourself together." Ordered The Sergeant angrily. The nervous marine just looked at his feet embarrassed, but continued to chew at his fingernails. "Duck!" Shouted Pvt. Harrison as he fired two rounds next to Pvt. Ensign's head. An oncoming group of Covenant blew backwards as the bullets ignited a near by hydrogen pipe. "Nice shot. Thanks for the warning." Mumbled a shock Pvt. Ensign. "Ok marines listen up. We don't have much choice, so spread out, take cover, and fire like you have a purpose!" Ordered Sergeant Luskey. No one objected, so they started to spread out and take cover. Pvt. Harrison and Pvt. Ensign headed left behind a stack of metal crates, while Sergeant Luskey and Pvt. O'Connor headed to the right and took cover behind some over turned tables. The rest moved forward and hid behind smashed concrete walls, or metal crates. "In coming Covenant dead ahead." Announced Sergeant Luskey through the comm. channel. The only responses were some nods and loading of the guns. Soon the Covenant were within firing range and that's when all hell broke loose. They all started firing systematically starting from the marines closes to the Covenant and then finally with the marines in back. The first line of aliens crumpled while the others tripped over the dead or slipped on the blood that was spilling over the ground. An explosion from a marines frag grenade eliminated half a dozen Covenant, while another rocket detonated in the middle of the frantic crowd, depositing another dozen or so Covenant. But the Covenant weren't going down without a fight. Elites fired their plasma rifles like crazy, while Grunts fired needlers at the group of marines. One marine was hit in the hand while holding it over a metal crate; firing blindly. He held up the smoldering remains of his shorten arm and Pvt. O'Connor turned pale then puked. While most of the fire from the marines died down so that they could reload, even more Covenant started to fall. "What the hell....!" Shouted Pvt. Harrison as he stopped what he was doing and looked at the scene in front of him. Elites stopped suddenly and fell where they were, while Jackals just fell forward; dead. But that's when they all saw it; small balloon like creatures emerged from cracks in the walls and mutated marines fell from the ceiling and landed with a thud. Grunts and growls filled the room as the flood slowly advance on the marines with guns raised.

"Almost done, sir." Informed Pvt. Rodriguez, the demolition specialist, as he finished the final touches to the small device set next to the door. [a.k.a "Door Buster"]. When detonate it sends thousands of high electricity bolts through out the whole door, disabling the security devices, and creating a way in for the Master Chief and his team. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1....there was a crackling sound and the smell of burnt rubber while the door pooped and creak as the small device did its job. There was a finally confirming pop, and everything fell silent. The Master Chief stepped forward and cautiously laid a hand on the door knob, twisted it, and then shoved it open. What he saw, was....well very disturbing. Covenant laid twisted and dead, and small shards of popped infection forms littered the floor. Beyond that were dead members of the flood, burnt with horrifying expressions on their decaying faces. The marines slowly followed the Master Chief with hands covering their noses and guns at the ready. A burst of gun fire came from somewhere next to the Master Chief followed by two popping infection forms. All the marines tensed and waited for orders. The Master Chief turned around and spoke softly to the group of marines, "The Flood are here, as you can probley see, and there's going to more. So stay alert and fire at will. If necessary you may speak but only to warn the others of enemy movement, but otherwise, use hand signals only. This may get messy very quickly." With those words of advice, everyone moved out with guns at the ready. They soon came to a stairway and gently pushed open the door. It swung open and everyone continued down. When they reached the bottom, the Master Chief, who was point guard, motioned for everyone to get down. When they did he slowly stood up and peeked through the small rectangular window at the top of the door. When he confirmed to himself that he was really seeing what was happening, he knelt back down and eyed the marines. "Alright marines listen up. Through this door, there are 20 flood at large, considering the odd its not that bad." The Master Chief said with a smile which soon faded when he came to the bad news. "Sadly, the flood are trying to corner Alpha team who has taken cover by the back wall. Here's the plan. About 10 meters to the right of the Covenant, there is a large generator which provides this section of the building with electricity. If we can take that out, it could reduce the Floods numbers by half. Pvt. Harrison that's your assignment. With a sniper, it is hittable from here." With that the Master Chief handed him a sniper that another marine gave to him. Without a word, Pvt. Harrison accepted the sniper and set it up. He took careful aim and fired. The sniper kicked and the bullet soared through the air towards its destination. It slammed into the generator, traveled all the way through, and the generator was soon ignited. The explosion blew the Flood and molten metal pieces 20 meters into the air. In the confusion Alpha team and Bravo team opened fire on the flood. In less than 10 minutes only 5 more Covenant were left. The Master Chief dove forward and rolled behind a metal crate and opened fire on a helpless decaying flood member. Its right arm fell of and then the Master Chief pumped another 2 rounds into the head with his MA7B assault rifle. The mutated marine staggered back and finally fell over. With a couple of well placed grenades and shots, the rest of the flood was taken care of and Bravo team united with their missing link....Alpha team. "Thanks," Said Sergeant Luskey, "just in time." "No problem Sergeant. Just doing my job. Cortana are there anymore Covenant or Flood left?" Asked the Master Chief. "No Chief, buildings clear. Time to move out and return to base." Answered Cortana with a hint of glee in her voice. "Alright marines you heard her! Move out! Lets return home!" Shouted the Master Chief. "Yes, sir!" Bellowed all the marines in unison. With that they all moved out and returned to the elevator shaft. From there they traveled down the shaft and outside to the awaiting Pelican. With a warm welcome from the pilot, they started their long journey home. The tension from all the marines soon wore of when they entered Delta base air space. "Welcome home marines, and Master Chief. You did one hellava good job. See you on the ground." Crackled Delta base air control over the speakers in the Pelican. With that the comm. channel clicked off and they sat back and enjoyed the flight in.

Halo2: The Covenant Wars [One Last Stand - part 1 of 2]

Authors Note: hey sup? Since ive been at this story for a LONG time and haven't come as close as I need to in order to finish, I thought that I would split this story in half and post the first half now and then the second half when I am done with it.
The time had come. Six well-trained marines hopped into a Warthog and geared up, and as they pulled away from the base, there was no conversation. The marines had a mission to do, and as usual it had something to do with the Covenant. The mission was something new, and would test even the best marine's skills and guts. They would have to infiltrate a possible Covenant base, capture or if possible disarm a nuclear bomb and then make it to the extraction zone with out getting there ass's shot. But the big twist was that it all has to be under two hours max.
* * * * * * * * * * The Master Chief jogged out of uniform down a bare hallway and stopped in front of a pair of double doors. He waited 30 seconds and then walked in. Ten highly ranked officials stopped their conversation and stood up. The Master Chief saluted to the ten men before him, and without returning the MC's salute they all sat down. One man with dark brown hair and icy cold eyes that could slice through steel remained standing. "At ease soldier." Said the man in a gruff tone. Then when nothing else was said John dropped his salute and spoke. "Sir, you wanted to see me?" Asked John. "I don't know who told you that son but I wanted to the see the Master Chief." The Master Chief stood up straight and informed him, "Sir, I am the Master Chief." The man looked him over and then smiled. "I'm sorry Master Chief, I was just expecting.... um. ...never mine. Please have a seat." Offered the man as he motion to a chair at the head of the table. When The Master Chief was seated, the man introduced himself. "Thank you for coming Master Chief. I am Mr. Montgomery of the UNSC Intelligence and these other men work with me." The Master Chief nodded towards the men and Mr. Montgomery continued. "Now down to business. I called you here on a very important matter. The UNSC Intelligence has reason to believe that that there is a Covenant base about 10 miles north of here. I'm sure you're surprised that they have not found us yet. Or have they? Two days ago we sent one of our best pilots to investigate, and found that the Covenant had some large activities going on. It seemed that they were making a large nuclear bomb." The Master Chief interrupted, "how do you know that it's nuclear?" "Four days ago one of our many nuclear plants was broken into and one of our nuclear bombs was swiped. When we arrived the next day, we found out also that one of the workers survived the attack. He told us that the Covenant were responsible. Now at this very moment, we have six highly trained marines heading that way, and their mission is as follows. Capture the base, capture the nuclear bomb and then get the hell out of there." "Sir, I don't even think six highly trained marines are going to be able to complete this...." "Ah yes, but that is why you are here. As soon as this meeting is adjourned, you've got yourself a new mission." Interrupted Mr. Montgomery. * * * * * * * * * * The Warthog fished tailed around a muddy turn and sprayed the marines with mud. A burst of gunfire erupted from the chain gun on the back of the Warthog and three Grunts fell. One surviving Grunt ran into the track of the sliding Warthog and the back of the Warthog whipped around and slammed into the Grunt. A cheer from the marines only lasted a couple of seconds as the Warthogs headlights washed over an Elite right in their path. "Dumbass." Murmured Sergeant Herdendez with glee. The Warthog nailed the Elite head on, spraying blood across the windshield and flinging the torso against a tree. One of the marines pumped an extra round into the Elites head just to emphasize his hate. Five minutes later a 10-foot high fence loomed up ahead. Beyond that about 100 yards were four single story buildings, resembling barracks. And further north beyond the barracks a half dozen buildings rose high above all buildings surrounding them. "All right men listen up." Came the Sergeants voice from every ones earpiece. "To close for explosives, so Pvt. Lust when I give the signal, you take point and cut through the fence. Alpha team, when we get through the fence take the left two barracks and Bravo team you take the right two barracks. Hold fire until given signal." The warthog slid to a stop thirty seconds later and all the marines hopped out. Pvt. Lust jogged slowly towards the fence and pulled a wire cutter from a hip pouch. One minute later there was a man size hole in the fence that they could all fit through one at a time. Once everyone was through, Alpha team took the left, and Bravo team took the right.

The Master Chief slide on his MJOLNIR armor and ran some tests to make sure that it was working. Then he rummaged through his ammo locker to pick out his weapons. He decided to take his new MA7B assault rifle fitted with a scope. He also took a handgun and slid it into his thigh pouch, and then pocketed a combat knife. A few grenades later the Master Chief was ready to go. As he stepped out into the sun, there was a pelican waiting for him with its engines whirring. Ten seconds after the MC was seated the Pelican was airborne. The speakers above the Master Chief's head crackled to life and the pilots voice reported. "Please move all trays, and seats to an upright position and fasten your seat belts. ETA for this flight is thirty minutes." The comm. link clicked off, but not before the pilot chuckled at his own joke. The Master Chief rearranged his gear next to him on another seat and leaned his head back for some R&R. You never knew when would be the next time that you got to sleep. The Master Chief woke up twenty minutes later to the pilot's voice, "Master Chief.... Master Chief! We got two Banshees on our six and closing fast." "Maintain course and hold her steady." Ordered the Master Chief. "Aye, aye." Came the reply. The Master Chief picked up his MA7B assault rifle and steadied the barrel on the first Banshee and fired twice. The first shot ricocheted off the Banshees front plate, but the second shot caught the fuel tank and the Banshee erupted into flames. The second Banshee got off two shots that missed the Master Chief by two feet. Before the Banshee could fire again the Master Chief fired to shots systematically. They both found their targets and it was the first Banshee all over again. "All clear back here." Informed the Master Chief. "All clear up here as well. Nice shooting. ETA five minutes."

Alpha team crept slowly through knee high weeds for two minutes before they came within firing range of their target, and when they did, they dropped on their stomachs and waited. "Alpha team in position and waiting." Reported Alpha leader Sergeant Reece. The signal came seconds later, and they all moved in on the first building. Reece and Herdendez both took out a frag grenade and on a count of three, tossed them into different windows. The explosion came five seconds later followed by screams of terror and pain. Tension piled up on the marines as they waited. Nothing happened. Another ten seconds and nothing happened. Sergeant Reece spoke into his shoulder mike. "Blake cover the back door and gun down any of the bastards that try to sneak out. Herdendez you and me clean out the building. Move it!" Sergeant Reece and Pvt. Herdendez crossed the twenty yards to the building and stopped near where the door should have been. Instead there was a ten-foot long and six feet high hole. Herdendez poked his head around the corner, and then yanked it back. Two burst of plasma zipped through the air and past through the area were his head had been. Sergeant Reece motion to Herdendez and he took out another grenade and primed the pin off of it, and then he rolled it into the room. They covered their heads and waited for the grenade to explode, and when it did, it shook the ground under their feet and caused the roof to sag. "Go!" Shouted Sergeant Reece. Pvt. Herdendez rounded into the room and pumped four rounds into a Grunts head, and then another five into another Grunt. Gunfire erupted from the other side of the building and then some return fire. After finding no additional threats, they went to investigate the gunfire. They rounded to the other side of the building and found Blake pinned down by two grunts and one Elite. Two shots later and two less Grunts, they went to work on the Elite. After the two Grunts were down the Elite swung around and growled. It lifted up his arm and prepared to fire his plasma rifle, but before it could, Pvt. Blake fired four quick shots right at the back of the Elites head. Blood erupted from its skull, killing it instantly. A plasma bullet caught Blake in the back and he went down. "Shit! The other building!" Bellowed Sergeant Reece as they came under fire.

The rest of the way to the insertion zone went pretty smoothly. The Master Chief spent most of the time checking and re-checking all of his gear, and by the time they had landed, the MC had checked all of his gear at least twice. The insertion zone wasn't more than fifty yards from where the Warthog was parked and those fifty yards were covered quickly. As he neared the opening in the fence he peered through the scope of his MA7B assault rifle. He spotted two burning buildings to his right and one burning building to his left. Also to his left he saw two marines pinned down by the Covenant, and another marine down. The Master Chief focused on a Grunt's head and fired. Blood sprayed out of its head as it crumbled to the ground. He adjusted his aim twice and fired each time. One Grunt and Elite fell to the ground, and the remaining two marines took care of the rest. As the two marines reloaded and continued firing, the Master Chief went over to the down marine and checked his vital signs. He was still alive but not well. He then picked up the down marine and carried him in a fireman carry. When the shooting had ceased the Master Chief went over to the two marines and sat the injured marine up against the wall that used to be the back of the first building. "Master Chief." Saluted the two marines. "We're happy to have you here. I'm Sergeant Reece and this is Pvt. Herdendez. We're part of Alpha team. He is Pvt. Blake." Sergeant Reece motioned to the marine sitting up against the wall. "Is he ok?" "He is alive but barley. He's going to need medical attention as soon as possible." "I see. Thanks for your help. Alright let's move out!" Ordered Sergeant Reece as he picked up Pvt. Blake. "We would be more than happy if you would come with us." The Master Chief nodded and followed the marines towards the main part of the base. When they were within 100 yards from the rest of the buildings, Bravo team greeted them. The two teams acknowledge each other and then moved on. Five minutes later they came upon a checkpoint with two Elites guarding the entrance to the main base. "Herdendez and Lust move up and try to flank the two Elites. Then when in range use your combat knifes." Spoke Sergeant Collins of Bravo team through his shoulder mike. The two marines nodded and moved up. It took two minutes to flank the Elites without noise, and get within range for their knifes. When they were within range they unsheathed their combat knifes and inched closer and closer to the two Elites, and then without warning slashed out and sliced their enemies' throats. Before the two Elites could hit the ground, the marines grabbed them by the arms and dragged them into the bushes. "All clear." Reported Lust. Thirty seconds later the marines and the Master Chief were reunited with Herdendez and Lust. After the Knifes were wiped and cleaned and put back in their places, they all moved on. It took no more than another ten minutes to make it to the perimeter of the larger complex. From what they could see, there were varies numbers of Grunts and other Covenant scattered through out the complex. Sergeant Collins, who had taken point, clamped his left hand over his right fist signaling stealth unless weapons were necessary. Everyone acknowledged and split up. The Master Chief went with Alpha team since Blake us unable to move on and was lied down in some high weeds until they came back for him. The MC, Sergeant Reece, and Pvt. Herdendez moved on and disappeared around the back of a two-story building.
