Halo: Legacy (1/9)
Date: 22 November 2007, 8:41 pm
This part of the Legacy storyline will follow the UNSC and beginnings of project BELKIN and the seventh generation of Spartans. It will focus around Fleet Admiral James Hood.
The Legacy storyline is set 300 years after the end of Halo 3. It will tell of the struggle that the Brutes faced while rebuilding, the attempts that the Elites and Grunts had in making an alliance and the attempts of the UNSC to colonize and visit extragalactic areas.
----------------------------
Date: March 3, 2853
Time: 1500 Military Time
Occasion: Spartan Eta-Class initiation (Seventh-generation)
A light chorus began to play. The music drifted silently and smoothly as the flutes, trumpets and all other instruments began their lowly yet powerful serenade. A small petite blond women in her mid-thirties came onto the stage. Her bright red lips and dazzling blue eyes captivated the young and old men and women of the UNSC armed forces. She parted her lips and the lyrics of a song long since forgotten began to be told
"Like the sunflower leaning towards the sun,
So trivial is life.
Let us retrace our steps,
From which all this chaos derives.
We have fallen,
We have prospered.
Among the distant suns we long to live,
But do not realize the mistakes we have made.
Mistakes that have cost millions of lives.
We honor our fallen heroes,
For they have protected us,
Against an enemy so deadly, so ruthless,
That our own imaginations couldn't comprehend.
Protect the mother planet,
So we say.
But what is there left to protect,
After the devastation these barbarians have caused?
Nothing."
The men and women of the armed forces erupted into a fit of applause. Hoots, catcalls and rounds and round of clapping came. The women on stage blushed slightly and as the crowd settled down she continued her song.
"All we have left is our own lives,
Which we must struggle to cherish.
We will never forget the ones,
The brave ones, the strong ones,
Who have saved us from further destruction.
Hope is what remains of an empire,
Put down upon its knees,
Torn apart by parasites and floods.
Our faith in God must be strong,
Otherwise, the spirits of the dead ones,
Will haunt us through the long, cold and cruel nights,
That have set their domination among us.
Faith is what makes us stand united,
Is what makes us survive.
The nightmare is far from over."
As the woman stepped off, and the crowd erupted into a pure chaos of emotion, applause and commotion a single man walked up to the stage. The man had silver-grey hair and the white uniform of a Fleet Admiral. His large stature and booming voice easily allowed him to be heard. The man was James F. Hood, the descendant to Terrence Hood , and as he introduced himself; the crowed hushed to a mere whisper and let the aging man speak.
"The following song was written by an unknown UNSC Trooper. The man was involved in the Second Battle of Earth and as we fought and died that day, he did the same and paid the ultimate price." he said with a long British drawl "Humanity paid the ultimate price that day. Today is the three hundredth anniversary of the end of the Great War. This day marked the end of the fighting, the end of the killing, but most of all it brought the end of a certain group of men and women who sacrificed everything and anything they had to see victory for Humanity"
The man then pulled out an old slip of crumbled yellow paper. on it were the easily most recognizable words that any man, women or child had heard in the UNSC. The words had captivated hundreds of thousands of the remaining members of the Human race. It was broadcasted over dozens of planets and as the final words were spoken by Fleet Admiral Terrence Hood, it would create an applause so large it would shake the heavens.
"For us, the storm has past. The war is over. But let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark and did not return. For their decision required courage beyond measure, sacrifice, and unshakable conviction that their fight; our fight, was elsewhere. As we start to rebuild, this hillside will remain barren, a memorial to heroes fallen. They ennobled all of us, and they shall not be forgotten, Fleet Admiral Terrence Hood March 3, 2553"
The ceremony lasted two more hours and after honoring all of the fighting men and women of the Human-Covenant war, the masses of people left and soon began to walk over to the Spartan-Memorial. Once named the John-117-Memorial, the men and women of the UNSC knew that it wasn't just John who had fought so hard. The left wing of the Museum of Humanity was soon renamed to the Spartan-Memorial. Pictures, com-clips and even dioramas were made and brought out to honor the UNSC's greatest asset. The Spartans were the cream of the crop in the UNSC. No longer facing extinction, the UNSC still proved to adhere to their old ways and continued the S-III program. Four more generations came and went and the number of Spartans ranged in the tens of thousands. Delta, Epsilon, Zeta classes had all come and gone. Spartans picked from each class trained the next and the Spartan legend grew and grew.
The Admiral began to walk down the stairs and away from the party and commotion. The Eta-class had to be the class that succeed the most. Each Spartan class had an outstanding record, but due to James' natural tendency to outperform his peers, he needed his Spartan class to be the best of the best. Twelve Spartans from the Zeta class were chosen to lead this newest class. DIs, noncoms and all other UNSC personnel was available. The S-III program was no longer shrouded under secrecy but the amount of effort that James put in astounded his peers none the less. The S-III program was often referred to as "the one that saved us all". The first two classes of Spartan from the S-III project vitally wound3ed the Covenant war machine and next five would not have a chance to experience war but would protect just as equally.
Following the Human-Covenant war, the United Rebel Front (URF) staged a massive coup in 2605 on Earth. They assaulted the planet with over two hundred space craft but only ten UNSC battleship status. The make-shit fleet stormed through the UNSC defences and landed groundside. The following battle would last three months and became to be known as the UNSC-URF war. The UNSC could easily hold off the assault in space but when URF marines landed, the planet quickly fell. Multiple calls were sent to Sangheili ships and after seven weeks of unaided fighting, a Sangheili strike team led by Rtas 'Vadum. The strike team consisted of four CCS Battleships and one Frigate.
The Sangheili ships rained down troops and supplies to the shell-shocked UNSC troops. Several Legions and one Creche descended to the surface of Earth and in a few short weeks the URF was finally put down and exterminated. The total cost of life came to be 600,452 deaths for the UNSC and Sangheili with a loss of several Frigates and 1,245,987 deaths for the URF with a loss of 200+ ships.
After the UNSC-URF war, the United Earth Government (UEG) decided to institute the Spartan program and a long list of technological advancements thanks to the Sangheili made it possible. James knew the whole history of Delta Company. He knew that they were trained by one of the last remaining S-IIs. Spartan-062 or Maria was the one chosen and after two short years they had three hundred and fifty brand new Spartans waiting for combat. Delta would serve in the final extermination of the URF and Epsilon company would serve in the extinction of the Kig-yar race during the Sangheili-Kig-yar skirmish.
James knew that he had a monstrous task ahead of him. He was the highest ranking man in the UNSC and with that came the decision of which men and women to choose. He had thousands of families willing to let their children grow up to be the UNSC's finest. The grey haired Admiral stood gaping out into the vastness of the space around Earth. Wreckage still littered the area and as the moon soon became a huge monument to all space battles of the UNSC, James knew what he had to do in order to make sure the UNSC was protected.

Date: 26 November 2007, 5:37 am
Basic plot: Tells the story of the formation of the Sangheilian Alliance, the building of BELKIN project and the struggle that the Brutes have rebuilding after the Human-Covenant war
Time: 2854-2900
--------------------
The time is 2854. The Human-Covenant war has long since ended and the Galaxy has once returned to peace. The UNSC has strengthened a hundred fold and currently controls the Orion arm of the Milky Way galaxy. The Flood has been effectively exterminated and as the last three hundred years flew by, Humanity and Sangheilian kind flourished and looked to expand their interests.
The Sangheili and Unggoy have long since joined each other in battle, and as the genocidal fury of the Prophets ended, they came to admire and treat the lowly Unggoy with honor and respect. The two shared deaths in battle, resources in peace and the common drive to achieve greatness. The Sangheili and Unggoy together control the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. The two races lived in perfect harmony, and as the threat of the Jiralhanae vanished from the face of the galaxy, a new born Alliance was founded. Honor, duty and the drive for more fueled the Sangheilian Alliance.
The BELKIN project was one of the UNSC's most secret projects. Project BELKIN was the response to Humanity's drive for exploration. Nearly the whole Galaxy was charted as both Human and Sangheili cartographers drew the space lanes, route of fastest travel the basic guidelines for space travel still left Humanity wanting to see more. Thousands of worlds were colonized and even though the Human race had control of the Orion Arm, they mounted a huge expedition to explore their nearest galactic neighbor, Large Magellanic Cloud.
The Jiralhanae race was devastated after the Human-Covenant war. Billions of lives were lost and hundreds of trillions of pounds of raw materials were wasted on the production of war goods. Each Jiralhanae had a loss to mourn, the packs were crushed and an all out civil war began. The Jiralhanae had once crept from the meager depths of pre-industrialist society but as the War ended, they soon slipped back into the old ways and a genocidal fury began to spring up from within. After 300 year of near salvation, the Jiralhanae continued to fight, kill and weaken another. The numbers dropped from twelve billion billion, to fifty five million finally down to five hundred thousand. A mummer of revolution sprang up from within the Jiralhanae packs and as the fighting slowly began to thaw, one thought came to every mind on the planet of Doisac...reconstruction
This part will focus on the background info of the Legacy storyline. Many people were telling me how I am making them assume and in the next few days I will write on the main events, past wars and other things in the Legacy story arc.
----------------
UNSC-URF War: The UNSC-URF war is the last conflict between the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) and the United Rebel Front (URF). It occurred in 2641 and with the short series of battles that it had, it brought the Sangheili and Humans to terms of an alliance. The "true war" started seven months after the Human-Covenant war when a small group of rebels raided the UNSC carrier Every Waking Morning. The carrier took light damage and a total of two hundred UNSC sailors were killed. The United Earth Government (UEG) came to realize that the rebels were no small threat in their weakened state and the began to wage a small secret war. But this war would have to be postponed, as the rebels were attacked before they could re-attack. A small faction of Jiralhanae that was unaware of the end of the Great War, attacked and decimated several URF colony asteroids but soon feel victim to the might of the Sangheilan Navy. The war would restart a number of years later after the assassination of the leading Fleet Admiral at the time. The battle would range from Mars, to the Jovian and even as far out as the remnants of Reach. The fighting eventually reached earth and the planet soon fell under the control of the URF in the end of 2643. In 2644, just three short months after Earth's capture, a new strike fleet was amassed containing both Sangheilian ships as well as Human. The total ships numbered only twenty-seven but to their advantage, most of the URF warships were not designated warship status. The joint strike team quickly dealt with the URF Navy and even more swiftly dealt with the ground forces. With the Battle for Earth over, the UNSC returned to peace but granted the Sangheili the rights to exterminate the URF. The Sangheili willfully fulfilled their request on the conditions that they will help in a war if the Sangheili were to come to one. The war ended in August of 2644.
Sangheili-Kig-Yar War:The Sangheili-Kig-Yar War was a massive conflict between the two races. It started in the beginning of 2700 and would soon involve the UNSC. The Sangheili had made multiple colonial expansions after the end of the Human-Covenant war and multiple moves against the Kig-Yar home world of Eayn. The Kig-Yar took these moves as hostile and in a brief yet serious confrontation a full scale war broke out between the two races. A set of small colonies on both sides were glassed which in turned dragged the Grunts and Lekgolo into the war. The new trio of races formed a small task force against the Kig-Yar race. The Kig-Yar win battle after battle by using guerrilla tactics. It became a classic case of cat and mouse as the trio of races attempted to fight a much much smaller one. The Kig-Yar eventually took refuge on their home planet but as they fortified it, it soon became impregnable. Hundreds of MAC cannons came into the service of the Kig-Yar but were retrofitted to fire plasma. The Sangheili were furious at the sight of the cannons but as they recognized their own design, they realized that they needed help. The Sangheili, Unggoy and Lekgolo came to the Humans with a request and reminder. The Humans had promised to give military help to the Sangheili if they ever needed at, and as the Sangheili came forth to honor the request the Humans were more that willing. The new strike team aided by UNSC Prowlers came forth to the Kig-Yar home planet of Eayn. The alien warships fired plasma cannons and the Prowlers went forth and planted nukes in, around and next to the Kig-Yar Plasma MAC cannons. In the next few hours, the Kig-Yar defences were destroyed and Eayn was soon glassed (under a vote between the four races). Kig-Yar numbers are estimated to be under 1000. A treaty was than signed between the Sangheili, Unggoy, Lekgolo and Humans and a small seed of trust was founded
