Halo 2: The Fall of New Tokyo Chapter 1/1
Date: 29 May 2004, 10:14 PM
Part 1/2: All for one and one for all.
After New Mombasa, the Master Chief was brought to Sea Base 542, just over 20km off the coast of Japan. He was given orders to rescue Colonel Ben Sukaskia who went into New Tokyo to gather information about the Covenant positions in the invaded city. He was assigned to Sergeant James M. Maverick and his unit to retrieve the Colonel. This story tells of the Master Chiefs journey.
It was late. The blistering heat that had scalded the ruins of New Tokyo had begun to die down. Up in the dusky sky flew three Pelicans, approaching fast to what once was New Tokyo. Sergeant James M. Maverick and his men, accompanied by the Master Chief were overlooking the ruins, illuminated by the Pelican's engines. The Master Chief looked at the mud stained floor and began to fall asleep. Cortana began to speak. "Chief, hey Chief wake up" she shouted. The Master Chief woke up hitting the area where the chip containing Cortana was held. "What?" "We're nearing the LZ. ETA two minutes. Don't fall asleep now" said Cortana. "I might as well. It'll be the last time I'll sleep for a while" replied the Master Chief. "Remember why we are here. We must..." "I know" interrupted the Master Chief cutting off Cortana. "We must find Colonel Ben Sukaskia, protect him and his men as they evacuate and eliminate the Covenant threat, right? " "Yes." agreed Cortana. There was a rumble. Then the Pelican jerked, throwing the Master Chief to the ground. "What the hell!?" shouted the Master Chief climbing back onto his feet. He staggered to the cockpit. After opening the door, he went up to the pilot and found him slumped over the controls. He was unconscious and blood dripping from his helmet. "CHIEF. WE'RE GOING TO CRASH!" yelled Cortana. "NO, really" the chief sarcastically said. He looked at the altitude metre. They were falling fairly fast. The Master Chief carefully moved the pilot aside and took control. He pressed a number of buttons and pulled the Pelican up. As soon as the Pelican began to pull up it was too late. It hit the ground and scraped across the ruins and eventually grinded to a halt. The Master Chief heard the moans of the three men on board. He turned to the back of the Pelican. He shouted. "Is everyone OK?" "Yes sir" "Fine Sir "I'm OK sir" The Chief gazed at the controls. Sighing, he used his comm. to send a message to Pelicans Omega five ten and Charlie seven seventy two. "This is the Master Chief to Drop ships Omega five ten and Charlie seven seventy two. Lima one thirty has crashed at coordinates...six three five zero one four. Your orders are to proceed to the LZ and wait for us there. Stay hidden and if anything crops up, get the hell out of there. Do you copy?" He waited. Static could only be heard. After a few seconds, the comm. buzzed with life. "This is Omega five ten. I copy that sir. See ya soon." A lively young male voice replied. "This is Charlie seven seventy two. I'm following orders sir. Charlie seven seventy two out." replied a female voice. And with that the Master Chief and the three Marines climbed out of the Pelican. It was dark. The perfect cover but a good trap thought the Master Chief. He looked to the East and heard the faint landing noise of the two Pelicans at the LZ. Then the Master Chief saw nothing as the Pelicans lay still and blended with the ruins. He returned to the Pilot. To the Master Chiefs surprise, he was getting worse. "Is there a medic here?" he asked the three Marines. They looked at each other with puzzled looks on their faces. Private Jones broke the silence. "No sir there's not." answered Private Jones. "Damn" the Master Chief replied. He paused to think. "Is there one on board either one of the Pelicans Private?" "Er...I think there is one on board Charlie seven seventy two, sir" "Thanks. Pelican Charlie seven seventy two come in." "I read you. Is everything Ok?" "Negative. We have a casualty that needs immediate medical attention. Requesting immediate evacuation and I need a medic. Is this possible?" "Yes it is sir. ETA 3 minutes so hang in there Charlie seven seventy two out." Private D. Dean had finished packing his equipment. He was distracted by a faint humming sound in the distance. He mentioned it to his friends and the Master Chief. Using a sniper rifle, he could faintly make out the shape. It was a covenant drop ship and followed by another. The Master Chief watched on as they landed 100 metres away from his position. The Master Chief was thrilled. Finally after an hour some fun he thought. "Lock and load marines lets get ready to engage" The only reply the Master Chief got was a triumphant shout of "Yes sir" from the Marines.
